John Volner Obituary

John W. Volner, Into the loving arms of his Savior soared John's soul, April 23, 2008. Born in Decatur County, TN, August 5, 1922, son of Fielder and Onie Volner. Services and burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, TN on Friday, May 4th. However, a Memorial Service will be held here in Phoenix at Eastside Church of Christ, 20th Street and Missouri at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 10th. The family welcomes all his friends for the last goodbyes. Sleep well, Sweet Prince!

I will always remember John exactly the way he was the very first time we met. White hair neatly combed, a snow white t-shirt, and dark pants, with the distinctive ramrod straight posture of a military veteran, John seemed so strong and so invincible.

We were the kind of neighbors who always waved when driving by. Walking the dog took a bit longer the mornings John patrolled the cul de sac or sat in a chair in front of his house to read the newspaper because we always stopped to listen to stories of his childhood in Tennessee.

John's beloved soul mate and guardian angel on earth, Andree (Mimi) made sure John got the very best of care when age and illness conspired to take away that seemingly invincible strength.

My loving thoughts and prayers are with her and with the rest of John's family now that he's so strong, so invincible, again ... and no doubt watching over us all from heaven.
