I didn't know you well, but I am not surprised to see that you decided to serve our country. Thank you for unselfishly protecting us, it saddens me that you had to lose your life to do so. My thoughts are with your family. I'm sorry that I am so late in saying good-bye, I just learned of your passing.

Brian, I salute you. I have walked were you walked and I have endured some of the same problems you endured, as we were brothers in the Infantry. I am positive that there is an Infantry Brigade in heaven, and you have entered the ranks of all of those hero's. I honor you and the way you conducted yourself as a husband, father, soldier, and as a brother. Your sister loved you more than words can express, and there isn't a day that passes she doesn't honor your memory.

Dear Family of Sgt 1st Class Johnathan McCain ,
It is with heartfelt thanks that I send this message to you. Thank you for all the love and support you gave to Johnathan in his military career. It was a great calling, not to be forgotten.
I have a son previously serving in Iraq, and now serving with his wife (both Black Hawk pilots) in Kosovo. We pray for their safe return every day. If they do not return we know that they have lived in love and then in Glory.
I hope your feelings of sadness and loss will slowly be replaced by the honor of his love.

Thank you can never cover what you and your family have sacrificed for my family. Thanking Sgt. McCain will never cover the ease of heart and mind he gave me, not even knowing it, by taking my son under his wing as a fresh out of basic private, during his first tour in Iraq. Though only 3 months long, it was like 3 years to this fresh out of basic mom. He is my heroe and my son's mentor and dear friend forever. Love to you, the kids, Sgt. McCains parents and family.

Mac- I really can't believe you are gone. You were my husband's best friend, the one who always set him straight when no one else could, a person I could always count on even though you were more his friend than mine. When Dusty was out with you, I didn't have any of the worries I have when he takes off with other friends and is out all night. With you, I always knew he was safe and not getting into trouble. I really can't express how much it meant to me to know he had someone like you to count on and to take care of him when he needed it. You will be forever missed in our lives.
Rest peacefully and know your family can always count on us, as mine counted on you when you were here. Dusty and I will do anything in our power to help- Your wife and children have only to make known there is a need and we will be there.
Thank you, Mac, for being the amazing friend that you were- you will never be forgotten.

Bryant, we will miss the hell out of you here in Alaska, the place you've called home for the better part of a decade. You're one of a handful of this generation's non-comms that I respect, and am glad to have known you.
Your troops will continue to be taken care of by us while still in-country as you now watch over them. We will do our best to make sure your kids remember that their Dad loved them dearly, and that he loved serving his nation. It's the best way we can think of to honor your passing.
I'm glad you were able to get in a good visit on your mid-tour last month; it had to be hard to leave them, esp with what was on your mind.
A place and a candle will be set for you brother; you will not easily be forgotten.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I'm home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I'm only a civilian
And I don't even know if it's allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn't make it home.
I know you're in God's presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
I Salute You.
