Kreta, Protopresbyter Joseph P.
Protopresbyter Joseph P. Kreta, 84, fell asleep in the Lord on February 2, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Protopresbyter Joseph served the Lord for over 59 years, and during that time touched many lives from New York to Alaska to Arizona. He is survived by his wife Matushka Marie of 60 years, sister MaryAnn Sola, and children Archpriest John Kreta (Matushka Evelyn), Subdeacon Stephen Kreta (Angela), Maria Kreta-Dillon ( Del), daughter-in-law Marilyn (Darcy). His grandchildren Timothy (Jennifer), Gregory (Mary), Thomas, Julianna, Joseph, Matthew, Peter, Larissa, Elizabeth and Joseph , and great-granddaughter Olive. He is preceded in death by his son Archpriest Peter Kreta. Funeral Services for Protopresbyter Joseph will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 6:00 P.M., at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 4530 E. Golddust Ave., Phoenix. A viewing will be held from 4-6:00 P.M. There will be a Litya commemorating Protopresbyter Joseph following a Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. He will be laid to rest at St. Tikhon Monastery in South Canaan, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Protopresbyter Joseph Kreta Scholarship Fund at St. Herman's Seminary in Kodiak, Alaska, St. Ignatious Mission in Mesa, AZ or St. George Church in Phoenix. May his memory be Eternal.
