June Brown Obituary

Brown, June S.
age 91, of Scottsdale AZ, formerly of Albuquerque NM, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2011. She is survived by her son, James Thomas Brown and his wife, Maritza Braga-Brown, both of Scottsdale; her grandson, Christopher Cole Brown of Albuquerque; her grandson, Matthew Thomas Brown, her great granddaughter, Emily May Brown, and her great grandson, Anthony William Brown, all of North Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. (Bill) Brown in 1992. Mrs. Brown graduated from Idaho State University, becoming the first of her family to attend and to graduate from college. During WWII, June worked as a telephone operator. Later in her career she would become the business manager for Bistlines Hardware. In 1944, she married Bill Brown, a dashing fighter pilot and war hero. Bill and June lived in Cape Cod, MA, where they enjoyed the seashore and the wild winter weather. They also lived in Germany and were able to tour throughout Western Europe. They retired to Albuquerque in 1963, where they became rich in friends and good times. They and their family would often go to the "cabin" on the Los Pinos River near Vallecita, CO, where they would enjoy fishing and the outdoors. June was an avid Duplicate Bridge player, achieving the status of a "Life Master". She also was a member of the Air Force Officer's Wife's Club and the Eastern Star. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at French ~ Lomas. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Please visit our online guestbook for June at www.RememberTheirStory.com
