Karen Griffith Obituary

Griffith, Karen Ann Braaten
Karen Ann Braaten Griffith commenced her life in newness with her Heavenly Father and departed loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents Rev. Conrad S. Braaten and Pearl. She leaves behind her husband Larry Griffith MD, and her children Brandon and Shauna Griffith (Ethan and Victoria), Amy and Michael Anderson (Brooke and Audrey), and Jonathan Griffith. She also leaves her siblings Rev. Conrad Braaten (Jennifer), David Braaten Ph.D. (Arlene), Pearl Schieck (Joel), Kirsten Wilder (Bruce) and sister-in-law Mary Griffith. She was a dedicated nurse, always caring for others. We fondly recall her joyous dancing, and now she is dancing with our Heavenly Father. "Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." Jeremiah 31:13. Memorial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1212 E. Glendale, Phoenix, AZ 85020. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.

My daughter Lauren and I stayed at Karen and Larry's house around 15 years ago. Karen was so wonderful to us and loved us so sincerely. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to have Karen in our lives, she was one of the most genuine, selfless people that I have had the honor of knowing. I know heaven is even more perfect with Karen in it!

Karen had a gentle and beautiful spirit. She brought lightness and love to every situation, and we all loved listening to her calm and sweet voice. It was a privilege to be her sister-in-law. I remember her joy in dancing, and her love of the ocean.

Karen (and Pearl) became my first sisters when I married Kirsten in 1980. I have been blessed by Karen's kindness and love for nearly 34 years. Her spirit was always marked by hospitality and grace. It is my honor to be one of her brothers.
