No matter how much time goes by, I will never forget Karen--a true friend.

I was stunned to learn of Karen's Graduation from this Earth Walk! She was the one who taught me, when we were at ASU, about the Equal Rights Amendment. Me, an avid ERA supporter in Utah -- oh, the price. Reading her Obit I am stunned at how our lives have been so similar over the decades. Bless her for all of us she has positively influenced directly and indirectly. Now she will influence us, from the other side, to get the ERA passed. OK! -Jan L. Tyler, SLC, UT

I was saddened and shocked to hear of Karen's passing. Our mutual friend Virginia Allan suggested Karen to me as the executive director of the committee at HEW that I was to chair--on Women's Rights and responsibilities. We worked on Title 9, the Equal Rights Amendment, getting Susan B. Anthony's statue at the White House and many other items. She was great--intelligent, personable, sense of humor and always working for the betterment of women and our country. She was so active in BPW/USA--seving as Virginia State President when I was National President. She was a true leader--whether it was for women, mixed group or the military. She always made the rest of us look good. The only time I may have been embarrassed is when we went out to hit some golf balls--she hit, I missed! When we first me, she was a meat and potatoes person but my Mom got her out of that and broadened herlove of different foods. Karen will be missed by the many people she knew and the lives she touched.

My old roomie at the Honor Dorm at ASU and fellow ""Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities". Lots of memories of her prime Mustang and later of dinners in DC and Sun City with my husband, Jim and Karen talking golf and politics.

The Arizona Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi sends it deepest condolences to the friends and family of Karen Keesling. We are all grateful for the role she played in the founding of this chapter of Pi Beta Phi back in 1965.

I worked with Karen in the Labor Department on an international child labor study in the 90's. Karen led the Wage and Hour Division at that time. She led with dignity and a quiet reserve. She was committed, kind, and very capable. May she find peace in the loving arms of God.

I met Karen in 1983 through the Virginia Federation of Business and Professional Women. It was my privilege to serve on the Virginia BPW Executive Committee with her. I also remember spending a weekend with Karen when I was looking for housing to move to the Falls Church area. We worked on the proposal for a grant to fund the Virginia Women's Hall of Fame and the Virginia Women's Historic Trail that weekend (she was very effective at delegating to get work done!).
Our paths were brought back together when both our parents retired in Sun City, Arizona. When Karen moved there to take care of her parents we were able to get together occasionally for a golf game (she tolerated my bad play very well and I was in awe of hers) or a meal out.
The small world syndrome is proven once again - I am living in Karen's home town of Wichita. She talked about Tex Consolver teaching her to golf at MacDonald Golf Course which was near her family home.
Karen was passionate about her family, equal rights for women, and golf. And she was very effective at taking care of all of them. It was difficult for Karen to jump out of the fast lane of Washington, D.C., to the much slower care giver role in Arizona. She did an amazing job. I pray that she has been reunited with her family and is resting in peace.

I knew Karen during her high school years at SE High School in Wichita. We were in many of the same classes, and shared our fun in athletics. In fact, I was the 2nd letterwoman ('k' comes before 'n'!). We met up again at ASU for a brief time. If I remember correctly, in 1964, long before Title IX, she received a scholarship to ASU based on both her golf and math skills. She had an amazing life. I am sorry it ended so soon.
