I worked with Ken at Northwestern National Bank in Minneapolis. His encouragement led me to pursue a career in developing and maintaining the GCOS operating system. It has turned out to be a marvelous journey. One that would not have started without Ken's help.

Ken and I worked together in the Minneapolis office of the GE Computer Dept. (later to become part of Honeywell). Ken was the guru on the GE-200 Series and the GE-600 Series. I worked the GE-400. Our paths crossed when any of my customers decided to upgrade to a GE-600. We had quite a time with the Green Giant account which was won after we did a benchmark against IBM in Phoenix.
Ken was a joy to work with. He had an amazing amount of patience, even when he was raising his eyebrows and giving you "that look" over his glasses for asking some dumb question...If I ever did something to impress him, my day was made! His professionalism and intelligence were an anchor in the storm of every project. And beyond that all, I liked him a helluva lot!
We will miss him mightily.

Ken was a great guy to work with in Des Moines. All of us with G.E. thought the highest of him.

I sent this personal note to Ken on June 6:
Whispers from the past give form to the present and I wanted to add my whisper to the chorus singing for you. Your illness has brought so many former colleagues together in love and support. You were always my I.T. hero - from the time you taught my first programming class when I was a trainee at the State of Iowa, to the brief time we were both part of the old G.E. Minneapolis District to the times our paths crossed in Phoenix.
Creativity, intellectual discipline, patience and humility describe your approach to the profession and I always tried to emulate you. And, I always fell short.
As you enter the next phase in the arms of God, carry the love of your friends as a companion on the journey.
God Bless,
Larry Everett

Although Ken has departed this world as we know it, he will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a quite man, but one with a mission to always do things “right”. He always loved fishing, even in the cold Minnesota winters – setting up his ice house and enjoying every minute of his time in the outdoors.
