Larry Halvorson

Phoenix - Larry Halvorson, 80. It is with deep sorrow and much love that our family mourns the passing of our husband and father, Larry, on March 15, 2021.

Born August 19, 1940, in Camas, WA, to Harold and Gladys Halvorson, the family moved to Phoenix in 1945 for a better life. After graduating from Montebello Grade School, Larry went on to become a star football athlete at West High in the late '50's and graduated from ASU with a psychology degree. His stand out accomplishments as a young man included being featured on local TV with the Calico Kids for a square-dancing performance, awarded Phoenix Paper Boy of the Year by the governor and earning the rank of Eagle Scout. After college, Larry went on to have a very successful outside sales and management career--earning many outstanding performance awards--with the R. V. Weatherford Co.

Larry was a life-long faithful servant of the Lord, a wonderful husband, loving dad and proud grandfather to two grandsons. His greatest achievements were the love of his life (wife, Diane, of 55 years), his 2 boys, and starting his own business--Desert Litho--on the kitchen table with Diane in 1985. In his spare time, Larry routinely attended Bible studies, worked on stained glass projects in the garage, and was always starting / finishing several handy man projects at the same time around the house. In retirement, Larry enjoyed being with his family, getting together with his ol' West High buddies and volunteering at Boswell Hospital in the knee unit.

Larry is survived by his wife, Diane, sons Eric and Michael (Rachel), and grandsons Colin and Spencer. He is also survived by his brother, Duane (Elaine).

A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, 5PM, Hanson Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. To honor Larry, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Vincent de Paul or Hospice Of The Valley.
