Dr. Larry Allan Moore

Larry Moore Obituary

Dr. Larry Allan Moore passed away on Monday, March 6, at Barrow's Neurological Institute as the result of a tragic accident in his home. Born in Verona, Mississippi on Sept. 7, 1937, Larry moved at age four with his parents and older brother to Texas where he grew up excelling in academics and athletics. He earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering in 1960 from Texas Technical College and went on to earn a Ph.D in engineering mechanics from Southern Methodist University in 1972. Early in his career he worked for General Dynamics and then for Collins Radio in Richardson, Texas. He moved to Arizona in 1972 to work for Motorola's government division. A gifted and respected engineer, he was a Motorola Science Advisory Board Associate, earned patents for his work, and was named a Dan Noble Fellow, Motorola's highest technical award. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he managed the company's Mechanical Engineering Lab. He enjoyed his work but the friends that he made were dearest to him. Larry is survived by his wife, soul mate and junior high school sweetheart, Wanda, along with his daughters Kendra Moore, Kelly Frost (Bill) and Kristen Satre (Mark). He is also survived by the grandchildren he cherished, Ryan, Logan and Blake Frost, and Amanda, Austin and Kyle Satre. He will always be remembered for his integrity, his intelligence, his compassion and his humor. He loved to tease and always enjoyed a good joke. He was the rock of the family and could always be depended on to answer life's tough questions. For all these reasons and so many more, he will be deeply missed. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at Green Acres Scottsdale, 401 N. Hayden Rd.

Wanda, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was away on vacation when he passed, so just now have been informed of the sad news. Larry was a terrific mentor and supporter for all of us at MEL. His basic decency and kindness made him such a valued manager and friend. One of the best in all ways.

Wanda, My deepest sympathy to you and rest of your family. It is almost 19 years ago Larry hired me. I worked for him for 6 years and then moved to another group in Motorola. But Larry was always a great help and a mentor for me. Even after leaving his organization, I will go and visit him when ever I needed his advise. He made me feel welcome and was such a great mentor for me. In '93, when I decided to change my job and go work for Semiconductor, my wife told me not to, because she said, you will not find a man like Larry to work for there. May God provide you and your family with a strength to cope for such a loss.

Wanda and family,

I was very sad to hear of Larry's passing. I was the littlest of the Owen brothers and always tagged along with the big boys like Larry and my brother, Jim Owen, when they would play all the games that kids played at that time. When they got tired of me, they'd run me off until the next time. But what I remember about Larry is that he was always nice to me. I lost touch with him until I read about him in the Northside E-news. He will be missed by all of us but we will see him again. We will keep all of you in our prayers.

Wanda--We were saddened to hear of your surprising loss of Larry. You both were always so good about seeing Uncle Earl and Aunt Lillian when you were in town. I have added a picture in the gallery of the Moore clan, 1951 or '52. Larry is the teenager on the back row. You and he had a very good life together, facing the challenges that came your way. He will be missed by all of us. Earl Parkman, Cindy Cropp and Susan Parkman-Doyle.

You truly were the best dad in the whole entire world and I feel so lucky that you were mine. I just wish I could have had you around for several years more. It hurts to know you and mom had so many plans--people and places to see and things to do. My boys are sad you won't be able to go to their baseball games anymore. Please watch over us and keep us strong until we can all be together again someday.

Wanda- It is with a sad heart to hear the passing away of an always dear friend like Larry. Larry and I were backdoor neighbors and child hood playmates. His house was accross the alley from my house. We shared a lot of good times togather. At Tech High we played and practice football togather. He and I played the same positions on the football team and butted heads many times. At our last Tech High Reunion 2004 he took a lot of pictures. WE spent a lot of time visiting and catching up on things. Now these pictures will be very precious to me. A dear friend --I will miss him. May the 'Peace from God' bless you and up hold you at this time. Jim Owen Tech High '54
