Laurie Vigneux Obituary

Vigneux, Laurie Lynn
49, of Tempe, AZ passed away June 29, 2013. She was born Laurie Lynn Petrica on August 5, 1963 in Evergreen Park, IL, the only child of Edward Petrica and Maureen de Somer. Laurie moved to Fountain Hills, AZ in 1995. She is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Joe "PaJoe" Walton, and beloved grandfather Aloysius Kommer. She leaves behind husband, Dan Turbyfill, daughter Amie (Vigneux) Walker and son-in-law Ben Walker, son Ryan Vigneux, son Brandon Vigneux, father-in-law Donald Turbyfill, mother-in-law Sue Turbyfill, and much-loved extended family members and friends. Laurie received her Bachelor's Degree from Northern Illinois University in Special Education in 1986. She had a special gift and passion for helping individuals with special needs, and she worked in this capacity for many years. Laurie had deep faith and a big heart, shown especially in her penchant for rescuing dogs who needed good homes. She had a beautiful singing voice, an infectious laugh, and an impressive knack for solving puzzles, a talent that helped her become the "big winner" on Wheel of Fortune in February of 1987. Laurie was a lifelong Cubs fan and a devoted Beatles fan who always treasured her experience of meeting Paul McCartney. She loved her three children more than anything. Laurie is gone far too soon and will be deeply missed. A celebration of Laurie's life will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Old Main located on ASU's Tempe campus. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to Multiple System Atrophy Coalition or Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary

Dan, I was an old friend of Laurie's from NIU. I reconnected with Laurie on fb back in 2009 and she filled me in on her post-NIU life. What a tremendous spirit she has always shown, and her love for you, Amie, Ryan, and Brandon was undeniably her greatest joy. Thank you for taking such good care of her and being with her in her darkest hours. I am so very sad to have read about Laurie's passing today, but I know that she was filled with tremendous faith and pray that she is at peace in the loving arms of God. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

My Dear Laurie,

Rest in peace and know that you were very much loved. Here is the prayer that was on your dad's "In Memoriam" card and I would like to share it with all your loved ones.

"Let gentle sleep now soothe the brow of her we loved so well, Let waving grass bring peace to her from mountain top or dell; For she rests within that Port far from earth's raging sea; Where angels live in harmony within a harbored lee. And one by one we'll follow on, through paths that she has trod, until, we too, shall safely rest within the arms of God."
"Franklin Lee Stevenson"

And here is an Irish Blessing to everyone!

"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine upon your face and the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palms of His hand.

Love, Aunty Lynn Petrica

My dear friend LV, thank you so much for blessing my daughters and I with the gift of love of friendship. It all began with a FHHS football game and the word "Mulligan" and in the words of the song we both loved so much "Who can say I've been changed for the better. But because I knew you, I have been changed for good..." I take comfort in knowing you are now in God's warm embrace, free from the pain and free to share the light you have so richly shared with all of us down here. My heart will always be full of our countless memories and good times and we will always and forever be "Dorks with Forks". Your life is to be celebrated and that I will do as I raise my glass of the best tasting water EVER on July 20th. I love you LV, I always will.

My dear friend LV, thank you for blessing my daughters and I with the gift of your love and friendship. Who would have thought a FHHS football game and the word "Mulligan" was the start of a wonderful friendship? You now live on in my heart with our countless memories and laughs, too many to share here. You are now in God's warm embrace and I take comfort in knowing that you are free of all pain and suffering. We will always and forever be "Dorks with Forks"...Fork 'em LV, fork 'em. On July 20th, we will celebrate the life you lived with the best tasting water EVER. I love you LV.

My sweet friend, you have blessed my daughters and I with the gift of love and friendship, and for that we will be eternally grateful. Who ever thought that a FHHS football game and the word "Mulligan" would be the start of such a wonderful friendship? I will carry our countless memories in my heart forever and when i drink "the best tasting water EVER" on July 20th, it will be for the both of us. We will always and forever be "Dorks with Forks". I will love you forever my brave, beautiful, sweet friend.

I only met Laurie a couple of times at ASU Tailgates. My first impression was "Wow, Dan has a beautiful wife." Dan, I'm sorry she had to leave so soon. I hope there is a greater plan for her beautiful spirit. I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time.

From the first time I met Laurie in the copy room at the old TOG admin office, to her pride at showing the latest pictures of the kids, to her excitement over the mashed potatoes at Buca di Beppo,...her smile always filled the room. She will truly be missed. Patti and I have been blessed to know both of you. Our prayers are with you and your family.

It was an honor getting to meet your beautiful wife a couple years ago at the Medallion dinner. She was precious- and had such love and light! Such a beautiful, happy, and loving couple. Both of you proved to be so strong in many ways. You have taught me and all of the Medallions so many life long lessons- by always living with courage, leadership, compassion, and character. I'm always here for you- and I know Laurie is at peace and smiling down from heaven : ]
God Bless.

Todd and I will always remember Laurie's beautiful smile. She brightened every room with her laughter and joy. We were honored to know her at Gilbert Parks and Recreation and still credit her to our happy marriage and life together. We feel so blessed to have had her in our life and experience her joy.
May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together.

Dan...you two have traveled down quite a memorable road....sometimes the memories are not always the ones you want to hold on to....however...each and every one got you to where you are today...thus they all played a positive part on your union as well as each of your individual characteristics. As time fades...ONLY the brightest memories will linger...and that is OK! It took a WHOLE lot of courage and dedication from both of you to continuously move forward. She has given you your signal to know she is around... make peace with yourself...she has... And whatever your future holds...it will be exactly as it should be... no need to worry about that...it will just happen.
