Marilyn Baumgartner-Cox Obituary

Marilyn Baumgartner-Cox passed away Feb. 28, 2006 in the comfort of
her Gilbert, Az residence. Born Nov. 1, 1945 in Pasco, WA to Barbara and Charles Baumgartner, Marilyn grew up in Perry, MI. She earned her BS from Michigan State University, where she played the French horn and Volleyball. In 1980, she married Charles Cox and six years later, they moved to the warm desert of Arizona. Marilyn actively participated with her family in the Red Mt. Trail Dusters 4-H Club, Gilbert Fine Arts, P&M Equestrian Arena, Az H.S. Rodeo Assn., Gilbert Days Rodeo, Highland High sports and chess teams. And she still found time for her hobbies: horses, painting, moving furniture, re-decorating and traveling with her family to Latin America, England, India and Asia. Marilyn worked for the Gilbert Public School District for fourteen years, most recently as the Field Trip Coordinator, and loved playing on the Transportation Dept. softball team: the Lug-nuts. Marilyn was lovingly known as "Auntie M" by the many she welcomed into her home and her heart. Surviving are her husband Charles of Gilbert, daughter Kate of Las Vegas, NV, son Chad of Tucson and father-in-law Earle of Bloomfield Hills, MI, as well as her sister Susan Cornell and brothers Jake and David Baumgartner, all of Perry, MI and the large "extended family" she developed over the years. The family will receive guests at the viewing on Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6 to 8 pm at the Falconer Funeral Home of Gilbert. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 12 Noon at the Gilbert Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Palmer officiating. Contributions in Loving Memory can be sent to Barrows Neuro Oncology at 500 W. Thomas #300, Phx, Az 85013.

Marilyn was a great person and I'm sure missed by many! Phillip and Michelle attended her day camp many years ago. She taught Phillip to ride and he still has a love and a way with horses. He LOVED going to her home! Marilyn will always be in our memories. She in ways molded our future. Our prayers are with Kate, Chad and Charles.

Martha.
