I met Mark while he was studying in the Russian and East European Institute at Indiana University, Bloomington. He was, as I often told him, closest thing to a genius I'd even known. He was witty, extremely bright and so open to share what he knew without being pedantic.
He taught me things of Nature and human nature as we traveled in the southwest.
He was my armchair guide last year in the spring when I visited Austria for the first time, land of his Oma's birth.
I had reconnected with him in 2019 not knowing it was for such a very short time. He did tell me Johnny had encouraged him to have a birthday party in July, and he had had a good time and glad he had done it. That was to be his last birthday celebration.
Rest in Peace, Dear One.
I will never forget you.
