Martin Elliot Sodomsky, M.D. (Marty), 79, a resident of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, March 31 2016 at Dignity Health Chandler Regional Medical Center after a long battle with complications of lung disease. He was born to Gloria and Arthur Sodomsky on January 23, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He earned his medical degree from the University of Manitoba in 1961, completed his internship at the University of Alberta Hospital in 1962 and his Residency at the Menninger School of Psychiatry in 1965 in Topeka, Kansas. It was there he met his wife, Marilyn. In 1978, they moved with their family to Arizona, where Martin practiced psychiatry in Tucson and Prescott. In 2006, he "retired" and moved with his wife to San Diego, where he returned to private practice for 6 years. Wherever he went he was respected by the community and was loved by his patients. He was devoted to helping others overcome their fears and live healthier lives. He was also an avid poet and writer, and in 2005 published the self help book How to Slay the Worry Monster. Martin is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, his children Michelle Salmans and husband Jim, Joe Breman and wife Galit, Jennifer Pelcyger and husband David, and Rebecca Berkowitz and husband Adam, and six grandchildren, Joshua, Jonah, Trevor, Sam, Ari and Micah. In addition he is survived by his brother, Ken Sodomsky and wife Betty, niece Shelley Segal and husband Barry, nephew Allan Sodomsky and wife Robin and nephew Dan Sodomsky. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:30 pm in the Chapel at Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery followed by graveside services. Address: 3015 N. Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ 85705.
