Matthew Amos Obituary
Matthew Nowell Amos, husband of Kathy (Jones) Amos passed away on December 27, 2011. He was a long time resident of Mesa and Gilbert and widely known because of his kind heart and affable personality. He was born of Michael and Debra (Nowell) Amos in Concord, California on January 24, 1970. They moved to Arizona later that year. He loved scouting and became an Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Gilbert High School in 1988 where he was the senior class president. Matt served a full time mission in the Puerto Rico Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then went on to graduate from Arizona State University. He was known locally as the owner of Discount Computers where he worked as the computer network specialist. Matthew married Kathy Jones in Mesa on June 5, 1992. Jazmin and Ramie Amos were born of this union. Kathy brought into this marriage Brik (Ashley), Skyler (Jennifer), Ridge (Chelsea) and Riley (Lexie) Nielsen. His surviving siblings are Jennifer (Steve) Reich and Suzanne (Mark) Hyland of Utah, Micah (Kim) of Gilbert, James (Rebecca) of Phoenix, and Katie (Jack) Davis and Joseph (Monica) Amos of Utah. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31st at 10:00 am in Mesa at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 2945 N. 32nd Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Matt Amos Children Memorial Trust, 1635 N. Greenfield Rd., Suite 115, Mesa, Arizona 85205

Matt has truly brought time for all to reflect on who they are and where they're going. I am thankful that I was able to attend the funeral and learn a little more about Matt's life and to see the strength that is in his family. Matt has touched so many people, never to be forgotten. In my memory Matthew will always be that handsome, athletic young man who carried his old scout leaders pack out of Havasu Falls, of the Havasupai Canyon in the Grand Canyon. My heart felt symphathies to Mike, Debbie and Kathy. I will always love Matt.
