Michael Hedrick Obituary

Hedrick, Michael
68, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on April 26, 2009. Since February 28, 1941, I have been on a blessed journey and I have met the kindest people along the way. I was blessed with great parents George and Kathleen, and siblings Robert (deceased), Sharon and Dave. I graduated from high school in South St. Paul Minnesota, University of Minnesota, U of M Dental School, Tufts University and Malcolm Grow Medical Center. I have spent 40 years as a periodontist, 20 of which were in the U.S. Air Force. In 1966, shortly after joining the military I was sent to the Philippines where I met my Angel, lifelong companion, and wife of 41 years, Lucy. We were blessed with 3 boys - Michael, Robert, Jeffrey and an adopted daughter, Jeannette. In July 16, 2008 I was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. It has been a long fight with chemo, prayers and hope. I want to thank everyone for their support on my long journey especially my family, my friends, my doctors and nurses, and my dog Onyx. I am going to miss everyone, especially my wife, my caregiver, my friend, my kids, grandchildren Miko, Ryan, Keali, A.J., and Chloe. Also, I will miss my daughters-in-law Cieli, Jeree and Kari and son-in-law Art. I will especially miss the numerous gatherings we have in our house with friends and family. Hopefully we will all meet again someday. Free at
last - no more chemo, shots, scans, blood draws, hospital stays or surgery. No more suffering. I am now in the hands of the Lord my savior. Visitation begins at 10:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:00 at Desert Hills Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Rd. in Scottsdale on Thursday, April 30.

My sincerest condolences to the Hedrick family. I was in Mick's high school graduation class and am a friend of Sharon, his sister. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and was very moved by his obituary that he wrote himself. He was a brave man and is now free from pain and suffering. What joy he must now be experiencing in the presence of God and Jesus. Connie Myers Fletcher

Dear Lucy and Family:
We are so very sorry for your loss. Mike was an incredible Dr. and Lucy, you were the best Nurse ever. We are so blessed to have met you both, we wouldn't have teeth if it weren't for Mike's knowledge of genetic weaknesses and the skills to correct them. We share your pain and you will be in our hearts always. The earth just lost a wonderful soul, but heaven just gained one.
