Michael Mastrapasqua Obituary

Michael Joseph Mastrapasqua, passed away on August 2nd 2005. Michael was a man who carried himself with endless endurance, nobility of spirit, and a constant joy of life. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on September 2, 1947, and moved to Phoenix with his parents in 1950. As a young man, Michael served two tours of duty for his country in Vietnam as a United States Marine. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from ASU and taught art at Cactus High School. Michael was a beautiful person who deeply touched the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his youngest brother, Torey, and is survived by his parents, Salvatore and Evelyn, his daughter, Jennaffer, and his siblings Marie Godley and her husband Scott, Raymond and his wife Adrianne, and Joseph and his wife Paula, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Our world is a much brighter and more colorful place because Michael was in it. A memorial service will be held at Hansen Chapel, located at 8314 N 7th St, Phoenix, on Sunday, August 7 2005 at 3:00 PM. There will be graveside services on Monday, August 8 2005 at 9:30 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, located at 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, with a procession departing from Hansen Chapel at 8:30 AM. I was remembering you today. Remembering the time we were driving down 15th Ave with the truck windows down trying to learn Spanish from this book of phrases you had found. We were laughing so hard and I so long to relive that day with you.

Everyday I see images that were created by you, my friend. A creative fish in my kitchen, an agave in my bedroom and tulips in the living room. I miss your laugh. Barbara

I was working in our old neighborhood on Friday and one of your former houses was one of my comparables. As I sat out in front of your old house, so many memories flooded my mind. Morning coffee with Michael. What I wouldn't give to have coffee with you one more time. I miss you

Death Changes Everything. Time Changes Nothing. I still miss the sound of your voice, the wisdom in your advice, the stories of your life and just being in your presence. So no, time changes nothing. I still miss you just as much today as I did the day you died. I just miss you. Love always

Ten years and still miss you as much today as I did then. I moved this past year and am starting a new garden. It always makes me think of you. I went by our old neighborhood last week. So much has changed, but I still remember fondly walking down the street to have coffee in the morning and our adventures in gardening and cooking. Miss you so.

Michael was my best friend, my buddy when we as children lived on 23rd Drive in Phoenix. I am saddened today as I just learned of his death over the internet. He was the coolest friend anyone could have had. I always looked forward to being able to talk with and share my thoughts with him. I will never forget Michael he holds a special place in my heart.

Dearest Michael,

I planted wildflowers today. I remembered what you taught me about not be so structured in my gardening; to just toss them out and allow them to bloom where they fall. They will be in full bloom by your birthday. I hope you will stop by to see them my friend. I miss you so much!!!

My love, my Micheluccio. I miss you so much. Never a week passes without an occasion to want to talk to you or just hear your voice. I need your expert advice on my garden. I need help with my fish pond. I need to see your smile and feel your hug. I love you madly. I always will.

Dearest Michael, Our paths crossed so often and yet it never seemd like it was often enough. Each time, the gap in time was never noticable and we would pick up where we left off. I miss your light and your love and your wisdom, you are never far from my thoughts and yet, a piece of me has gone with you these past two years. I find that I still look for you my friend.

I miss you.

Oh Michael: How I miss you. We had 19 years as friends,7 of those as lovers. We traveled around the world and and enjoyed it all. It's been nearly a year since I have added this message and still see your smiling face when I close my eyes at night when I sleep. Hugs and Kisses. Bobby

Micheluccio, my love: "Where you used to be, there is a hole in the world, which I find myself constantly walking around in the daytime, and falling in at night. I miss you like hell." [Edna St. Vincent Millay] I love you madly. j

I knew Michael for just a short time. But in that time I could see a man full of life. Each week that I saw him, there was never a negative word that came from him. He would greet you with his smile and laughter. I feel blessed for being able to have known Michael.

I only knew Michael for a short time. He attended a weekly support group and contributed occasionally. When he would smile you could always tell it came from his heart. He will be missed by many.
