Michael Menzel Obituary
Mesa - Mike, age 58, born July 7, 1959, died unexpectedly yet peacefully on December 7, 2017 in his family home in Mesa. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1978 and became a master machinist after taking classes at MCC. Health problems forced him into an early retirement but despite being increasingly disabled, he strove for as much independence as he could achieve. He lived alone on Mariposa Street in Phoenix for over 20 years, lately with the assistance of several wonderful caregivers, and was a long-time habitué of the coffee bar at Uptown Plaza AJ's.
Mike devoted his later life to researching and exposing the pervasive injustices that he perceived in this world. He was outspoken in his convictions but was always optimistic and inspiring. His Christian faith and his belief in a better life after this one sustained him through physical hardships that would have left a lesser man in despair. His mother Marlis, his brother Jody, his sister Angela Marie Alsbury, and his niece Ambrosa (Hahn) Salazar survive him. His family will host a Remembrance at Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix on Saturday, January 27, at 2pm.

I will never forget and will always treasure our happenstance meeting at SWAN Rehab 10 years ago.....your humor and profound insight on life.
We had some fun times over the years and I am forever grateful for your friendship. Rest in peace, and may your friends and family find peace and comfort in their own fond memories.
