Michael Whitley Obituary

Michael Allen Whitley, born June 7, 1968, in Phoenix, Arizona, unexpectedly passed away at his Tempe home on February 24, 2004. Michael was a 1982 graduate of Longview Elementary School, where he played many sports, to include his favorite - baseball. He attended Central High School and later participated in a vocational program at West High School. Hired by Honeywell while still a student at West High School, Michael worked in the aerospace industry as a machinist until his death. An avid outdoorsman, Michael loved to hunt, fish, and camp (and of course, relax). He has a longstanding member of the National Rifle Association, and he was a proponent of the Bill of Rights. Having taken an interest in religion approximately ten years ago, Michael frequently made reference to his contentment with the life he had led and would regularly remark that when the Lord came for him, he would not be bitter. Survived by his family, Michael Whitley will be dearly missed by way too many friends to list. Those friends include Nate (his mentor), Becky, Michelle, Rich, Dee, Gary, Brian, Sarah, Fred, Jen, Jeff, and Sean. Goodbye "Whiteboy," you were one of a kind, and we'll all miss you more than you'll ever know

WRITE IT ON YOUR HEART.......

That every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt, crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it serenely with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes an invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays. By Ralph Waldro Emerson

To the Mcghee's...

We did not know that evening that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death-we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories: your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing is the same, but as God calls us one-by-one the chain will link again.

MIKEE- ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH

I think I've been procrastinating on writing and completing the DVDs so I could attempt to suspend the feelings just a little longer. Forgive me for the delay. Somehow, tonight my heart hurts a little more and it's a little tougher than I thought it would be. The DVDs are complete and will go out in the mail tomorrow. It is our hope that it brings you comfort when you are missing Mike and need to see his smiling face. There are so very many smiles to see. Such great pictures everyone contributed and now they can be shared by all. To my wonderful husband David, thank you for your tireless efforts with the DVD. Mike, I smile and think of you each time I pass by Mountain Pointe. I wish I could have seen you play. You were our angel on earth. Please watch over us and give us angel hugs as much as you can. We need them:-)

Mike Whitley was one of the good guys on this earth. His absence only makes us all too aware of what a kind and gentle spirit we had among us. His heart and goodness touched many; may he live forever in those of us he knew and may we give to others what he so freely gave to us.

Our condolences to all of his family and friends.

To the family and friends of Michael Whitley:

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mike was a very genuine person who will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him. I worked with Mike for several years and could always count on him for a smile and conversation. I often went to him for help, which he gave freely. Although his life ended way too soon, I just wanted you to know that he touched and helped people along the way.

Mike, my brother, my friend...you will always hold a special place in my heart. Here is the prayer I said for you at the service:

Lord, Please watch over all of Mike's family and friends as you graciously accept him into your kingdom. Please help us accept that he is home now. Please allow us to depart from our grief and to now start carrying on with our lives and live it in Mike's spirit. May we all live life to the fullest, love like Mike loved others, give & accept all we can, and learn to appreciate life as he did. Let us allow his spirit to live through you and in us. In the Lord's name we pray....amen

Becky and Nate,

I did not know Michael, but have heard, from Jane, that you had such a close relationship with him. I have had loses in my life, but cannot imagine how devastating this must be for you. It is so hard to lose someone even if they are sick or ederly...but to lose a young, vibrant friend must be such a shock and so very hard. Believe that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Love,

Martha

Mike was a good friend. I have worked with Mike since I was hired in 1988. He made us laugh he was fun to work with and I enjoyed every moment i spent with him at work and away from work. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. Iam sorry for your loss.
