Nancy Ledbetter Obituary

Ledbetter, Nancy Jane
age 63, of Sun City, AZ passed away on July 6, 2011. Nancy lost her long battle with cancer and peacefully passed away on 7-6-11. She was born on 10-21-47 in Independence, Missouri to Albert & Norma Batts. At the age of 16 her family moved to Phoenix, AZ where she lived & worked for many years in the Mortgage business after which she retired to her home in Sun City. She loved to travel, watch TV soaps, was a 60's to 80's rocker and loved her dogs, family & many friends. In her own words she said "I had a great life" She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Nancy is survived by her Nephew-Jeffrey Daniel Batts and long time friends close enough to be thought of as family Alberta Beatty, Robin Saunders, Denise Murray and many other long time friends. She now joins her father, mother and brother who preceded her in death. Nancy has requested no services be held but has requested that memory donations to Arizona Humane Society, Best Friends Animal Society, and Banner Health Foundation Transplant Program be made in her name

We lost you seven years ago today. Your leaving this earth was a terrible time for many of us who are still here. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my SWEETEST BESTEST FRIEND !! We thought of you all day today...we fixed mac and cheese with chopped up hot dogs for lunch today to celebrate your day....only today it's quinoa noodles and vegan hot dogs...LOL...funny how life changes!!My ol'steady boyfriend John died in April so I'm SO GLAD I have this picture of the two of you in your photo gallery...what FUN we had tooling main in his little red convertible... were we just "three muuskateers"HA...HA...WHAT FUN WE HAD!! she was cremated, I also had Jeff's Ashes and her dog Corky, so I spread the ashes in Northern AZ where she asked me to. (Woods Canyon Lake) Her Dad 's ashes are in the VA Cemetery in a tomb wall. PS Ocho is a girl and my Mom is Alberta.

OMG !! Dennis found this site where we could send our thoughts of LOVE to you !!THANK-YOU Michael for doing this absolutely lovely thing !! Oh,MUCH she LOVED you !! We spent MANY hours on the phone talking about how CRAZY in LOVE she was about you !!! It's just SO nice to see her pictures and her precious little "Ocho" !! Also.....I've always wanted to THANK-YOU Robin for sending me Nancy's obituary card and newspaper article...so thoughtful of you !!
Oh...by the way I'm Linda Petersen and Nancy was my BEST...BEST...BEST.. friend EVER from back in Fergus Falls,MN...Nancy's dad was gone most of the time so Nancy pretty much lived with us until she moved to AZ...but we still kept in touch until May 17 when she e-mailed me that her treatments had "brought me to my knees"!!! IT BROKE my heart !!!!What a fighter she was !!! How we happened to find this site was that our class reunion in Fergus Falls is this summer and we started searching for information on Nancy to share with our class reunion committee. I'm just so HAPPY to have found this and can share it with other classmates....Nancy was SO LOVED by EVERYONE in the class...always laughing and SO HAPPY...always nice to everyone !!!
So...THANKS again Michael for this beautiful site....I shall be on here again....on Oct.21 I have always fixed Nan's and my favorite thing...mac and cheese with cut-up hot dogs in it !! I'll be fixing it again on July 6 in your honor Nanc'!!

On October 21, 1947, a very special girl was born in Independence, MO. Sixty-three years later, that wonderful girl was taken from us. You went through a lot in your time here on earth. You had a lot of very good years and a few that were not so good, although not by your choosing. Some things were thrown your way, that most people would not be able to handle. It has been exactly two years ago today that you were taken away from us. Sometimes I think that you are in a much better place than what you left behind. What can I say about Nancy Jane Ledbetter (Batts) that has not already been said by many. There are not too many people in a person's life that could reach out like Nancy could. Nancy always had such an effect on all of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Nancy was the rare type of person that absolutely lit up the room when she walked in. Anytime I would see her, she always gave me a wonderful feeling inside. She always knew how to put a smile on my face. During all of life's challenges that were thrown her way, I never once heard her complain. I know she never gave up the fight for life, that she so desperately wanted to win. She fought with every ounce of strength she had left, right down to that afternoon on July 6, 2011. She always had a gift of being able to make things happen no matter the difficulty of the task at hand. Unfortunately, the task that mattered the most, she wasn't able to fight any longer. I told her many times that she was the best there is and ever will be. No one could ever come close to being the fantastic person Nancy was. She will remain in my heart forever. I love you Nancy Jane Ledbetter.

I have known Nancy for 15 years & the last three I spent alot of time with her. She made me laugh, she was a great listner, she loved to eat out! She loved to watch Movies on Friday and Saturday night. Nancy had a big heart and a way to tell it like it is. Nancy was the sister I never had by birth..truly one of a kind! I'm blessed to have known her. We had a special connection that lasted more than 30 years--and should have lasted even longer had it not been for that insidious disease. I miss her...every day...and know she's just joyously learning about everything that she could not know specifically here. God and the angels are having a good laugh or two now that she's with them.

I miss Nancy everyday since her passing July 6th at 3PM. I have taken care of Nancy for the past 3 summers during her Chemo. Little Ocho morned for Nancy, sitting by her bedroom door for days.
