Ned Cross Obituary

Ned Stillman Cross, a native and life-time resident of Arizo- na. Born July 18, 1915. Passed away December 24, 2003. Graduated from Mesa High School in 1933. A life-time member of the Elks Lodge #1410 of Miami, AZ. Worked and Retired from Magma Copper Company, Superior, AZ. I'm going now. I wish I could stay, there's so much I want to do. So I leave the un-done chores for you to do. I expect you to keep them up as I would do. As I would say this Desert Rat has seen so many changes. When that 1928 Model T Ford my Dad drove to the water tanks we built, to the gas pumps at the Oasis. The apple pies my mother would make. The airplane that Don flew to the collection of cars Paul had. And there was Duke flying the blue skies. There is my sister Doris, she was special to me. I'm sure with us boys it was pretty tough. She sure can play some beautiful tunes. I was married for 67 years to Billie. We had Three boys, that kept us on our toes. Watching them grow-up has sure been a great reward. I'm Proud of each and everyone of you. When I look back, time sure has gone fast. I would play three baseball games in one night. "Boy, I sure had fun." Then I also would go Bowling and they were quite exciting times. The dances we went to. But now it's time to say good-bye. Do not weep nor cry. I had a good Life. I'm going to rest this old heart and tired old bones. But I leave you with the memories of Ned Cross not Red Cross. Preceded in Death by Parents, Edgar (Ned) and Leaf. Two brothers, Don and Paul. And Wife Billie. Leaving behind One Sister Doris and One brother Robert (Duke) and Mary Lou. Three Sons, Melvin and Pat, Gary, Rick and Margaret. 8 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Services Tuesday, 12/30/03 at 10:30 a.m. at Mtn. View Memorial Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa. Visitation Mon. 12/29/03 from 4-8pm at the Mortuary.

Our condolences to Ned's family...we have fond memories of going by the Oasis...Ned Cross not Red Cross....We last saw Ned at Violet Valdin's funeral and he looked great and still had a great sense of humor...Ira remembers Ned's many years at Magma Copper Co. He now has gone on to join all the many mining people who have gone before him and we are sure they are all "swapping" tall tales.. As he said he had a good life and it is time to remember all the good times. God bless.
