Ned Nez Obituary

Ned Mitchell Nez, born to Sylvia Marie Laughter and Ned Nez on January 5, 1984 at Page, Arizona, died in Phoenix on July 30, 2003 following an automobile accident on July 27, 2003. Mitchell is the brother of Tasha and Nakita; he is of the Kinyaani Clan of the Navajo Nation. Though Mitchell was a young man just starting out, he had a desire to work hard at life, to devote himself to family and friends and to make his own way in the world. Mitchell was full of hope for a bright future, he enjoyed working with his hands and creating things. Mitchell worked in his father's business as an apprentice electrician. Mitchell was a devoted son and brother to his mother, Sylvia, and his sisters, Tasha and Nakita. In addition to his mother, sisters and father, Mitchell is survived by his maternal grandmother, Mae Mitchell of Babyrocks, his maternal grandfather, Rex Laughter of Kayenta, and his paternal grandfather, James Nez of Coppermine, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The funeral will be held at the LDS chapel in Kayenta, Arizona on August 2, 2003 beginning at 2 PM, the burial will follow immediately at the Family Cemetery in Babyrocks. Family and friends will then be received at the home of Mae Mitchell in Babyrocks. A memorial fund has been set up at the Anasazi Foundation, 1424 South Stapley, Mesa 85204, in the name of Mitchell Nez for those who wish to make a donation.
