Paul Brown Obituary
Paul Clinton Brown Sr., died in Hospice of The Valley, Chandler AZ on March 2, 2005. Born March 18, 1930 in New Haven CT. Graduated Hamden High 1949. US Air Force 1949 - 1953 served 2 yrs in Korea. Attended New Haven College. Long time member of Rotary and Paul Harris Fellow. President-elect of the Sun Lakes Crown Rotary Club. President of the Board of Sun Lakes Community Foundation. Survived by: his wife of 47 years Sallie Brown, 2 Children: Paul C. Junior (Sam) and Marian Vincent Brown (Wendy), as well as his other daughters Sally Bowles and Erica Woods. His parents predeceased him and he leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends scattered across the country. Paul spent many years employed at Farrel Corp in Ansonia CT. He moved to Vermont and operated the Sonnenhof Lodge, Jay Country Store and the Jay Garage. He later ran a restaurant in St. Albans Vermont and eventually entered the field of marketing in the Burlington, VT area. His real accomplishments were in event planning and fund/donation raising for which he became legendary. Most of his fundraising was centered on The Colchester Rotary Club in Vermont, the Sun Lakes Rotary Clubs in Arizona and the Sun Lakes Rotary Clubs in Arizona and the Sun Lakes Community Foundation. Paul's greatest accomplishment was leading the Sun Lakes Community Foundation to the opening of the Ed Robson Branch of the Maricopa Library. The Foundation provided Sun Lakes with a much needed Public Library and was built without any tax dollars, which meant raising roughly $1,000,000.00 He simply would not take no for an answer, which is no surprise to those who knew and loved him. A memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Sun Lakes, 9248 E Riggs Rd. Sun Lakes, AZ 85248 at 10:00 AM on March 18, 2005. Burial will be in the Family Crypt at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia CT on May 07, 2005, preceded by a service at Jenkins King Funeral Home on Jackson Street in Ansonia (203-735-0036).
