Paul Ingle Obituary

Ingle, Paul
71, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on September 11, 2014 with loved ones at his side. Paul was born in Urbana, IL on November 17 1942 to Lester and Edith Ingle. Paul was paralyzed during a diving accident at age 16. His disability never slowed him down. Paul lettered in basketball at the University of Illinois where he graduated in 1968. He won gold medals in swimming at the International Wheelchair Games in London. He earned his master's degree at Rhode Island College. Paul built a house, raised a family, and had a 29 year career as a well-regarded public school science teacher and active community member in the town of Scituate, RI. During retirement Paul reconnected with his childhood friend and soulmate, Kit Filbey. Together they lived in Denver, CO and Mesa, AZ where Paul enjoyed home improvement projects, high tech gadgets, model airplanes, and lots of warm sunshine. Throughout his life, and wherever he went, Paul inspired and improved the lives of those around him. Paul is survived by his son Joe Ingle, his sister Linda Rain, and his soulmate Kit Filbey. A Celebration of Life will be held at home on Saturday, September 20, 2014. The family requests memorial donations be made to the United Spinal Association at www.unitedspinal.org/donations.

Joe & Kit,

Please accept my condolences on the loss of my old friend Paul. I worked at the jr/sr high school in Scituate with Paul during his last few years of teaching. He was one of the smartest people I have ever met. His quiet and patient manner was a good mix with his sense of humor. I enjoyed our conversations over those few years. I will keep you and Paul in my prayers.
