I knew Sgt. Spinabella when he was a well-liked instructor in the US Army Junior ROTC Program at Davenport (IA) High School in the 1950s. Always good-humored around his sometimes-bumbling charges, Sgt. Spinabella is memorable to me all these years later for a piece of wisdom he gifted us during his drill instruction: "Remember, gentlemen, you can march your platoon only as fast as the slowest man." I've used that insight any number of times with others when it seemed right for the circumstances. I'm writing this memory years after his passing with a hope it somehow finds its way to his family. My ROTC friends remember him still.

Monique, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my husband 13 years ago so I know a little of your pain. An old friend from Sears.
