Remy Velarde Obituary

Remy Adrian Velarde

Remy Adrian Velarde, son of Junico and Tracy Velarde, brother to Jade Alexander Velarde and Noah Armand Velarde, was born June 26, 1997 in Houston Texas. He graduated from Stratford High School and was attending Grand Canyon University, in Phoenix, Arizona, where he studied graphic design and advertising. Remy was set to graduate in December of 2020 from GCU and will receive his degree posthumously. Remy had just accepted a position with the company ICT(Innovative Construction Technology) in Phoenix as part of their creative tech team.

Remy had a love of life and music and professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and attended St.Luke's United Methodist Church, where he served as an intern in 2016 with the student ministries. Remy also participated in multiple mission trips during his time with St. Luke's as well as leading small groups for middle school boys, as he had a passion for teaching the good news of Jesus. In 2014, Remy was part of the launch team for The Story Church, Houston. He also worked 3 summer's for Laity Lodge Camp as a camp counselor. Every life that Remy came in contact with through his high school and college years, was impacted by his love for Jesus.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his devoted parents, Junico and Tracy, brothers Jade and Noah, 4 grandparents, 6 aunts, 6 uncles and 17 cousins. Memorial services were held July 24, 2020.

My name is Robb Mazzoli, from Steilacoom, WA. I've been torn about posting this but am going to in hopes of spreading a bit of comfort during this sad time, especially knowing that he passed on far from home.
I live on the hill above where Remy's accident occurred. Because of the distance and the ruggedness of the terrain the EMTs had to go on foot, it took a while for them to reach him (not inordinately so--and do rest assured that they did everything they could very quickly). In that time, I was able to chat a bit with Remy, as he was conscious even after the EMTs did reach him. I was not able to be with him physically and never even saw him, but I spoke with him over the cliff as we waited for the medics. During those several minutes I was impressed with his courage, his fortitude, his obvious gentleness, his love of his family and his professed belief in Jesus and God. It was obvious that he was a special person. In fact, he was able to help the EMTs who were helping him despite the gravity of his injuries.
This will not salve the pain of loss, but please do know that he was not alone either physically or spiritually. Although I never knew him, I do miss him.

I have never known another like Remy, and I know that I never will. His love for life and everything that came with it was so positive and he reflected that in everything he said and did. I loved having Remy as a friend and I will cherish every memory, from FBA and beyond, forever.
Prayers, love, and No Bad Days.

A beautiful, precious life living as an example of how Jesus would have us live, to show others how Jesus Himself lived and loved others unconditionally. I was touched by Remy through others of his family at the Memorial Service given to celebrate his life, this past week. A truly devoted Christian life lived only to glorify his Lord and Savior. Remy's life was totally unselfish of himself, but very much Intended, a life to serve others he met, selfish for Jesus sake, so they would learn of the saving Grace and Mercy that could only be found in our Lord. I am continuing to pray for Tracy and Junico, Jade and Noah and certainly all the rest of the family for Peace, Comfort and Strength in the coming weeks as they move along with their lives without Remy.
