Richard was a gentleman and proud citizen. He was comforted in his final minutes and years by his angel Shirley Avery. Mardi Markwell and I admired Richard.

The Asian Arts Council of the Phoenix Art Museum is grateful for the generosity of this kind, philanthropic and erudite gentleman who served as a Director of the Council. He significantly enriched the museum's collection with his magnificent gift of Chinese bronze mirrors and ceramics, which span over a 1000 years of history. His legacy will endure to captivate and inform future generations. Richard’s guidance and goodwill will be missed. Condolences to his family and Shirley Avery.
