Richard Marciano Obituary

Marciano, Richard "Rick"
Richard "Rick" Marciano, age 74, of Phoenix, AZ, died at home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. Rick was born on May 19, 1940, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Paul A. Marciano I and his wife Ginger. He attended Phoenix Union High School and subsequently joined the United States Marine Corps. He served six years based out of Camp Pendleton, CA, attaining the rank of Corporal (E4). Throughout his years of service he received the USMC Good Conduct Medal and Rifle (M-1) Sharpshooter Badge. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 21, 1963. Rick was employed for 40+ years in the construction industry. Known as one of the best drywallers, his expertise was called upon when a job had to be completed with absolute perfection. He was a loyal, dedicated employee who loved his job. Rick retired in 2005. Rick was a devoted father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family (known to make the best Italian food), travelling and nights out at the casino. Many years were spent camping, fishing and hunting throughout the state of Arizona with his two boys, as he loved his family and the outdoors. Rick never missed an event involving any of his children or grandchildren. As a friend, Rick was one of the best. He was always willing to lend a helping hand with no hesitation or expectation of anything in return. Rick was a strong, proud, supportive, dependable and loving man. Rick is survived by his oldest son, Rick Marciano and his fiance Christina, of Phoenix, AZ; his youngest son, Ken Marciano and his wife Allison, of Peoria, AZ; three grandchildren, Ashley Abbott, Rocco Marciano and Bronx Marciano; step-grandson Jack; great-granddaughter, Maylene; one brother, Paul A. Marciano II and his wife Linda, of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Gloria "Tiny" Price, of Phoenix, AZ, and Natasha "Squeaky" Denny and her husband Dwayne, of Phoenix, AZ. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ, 85381. A celebration of Rick's life will immediately follow at 12 noon with Pastor Steve Gilbertson, Church at the Chip, Cave Creek, AZ, officiating. Graveside Service with military honors will follow at 2 pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ, 85024.

Although it has been many years since I seen or talked to Rick, I have many wonderful memories of Rick when we attended North Phoenix Baptist Church at the same time. We had so many good times, playing ball, worshiping, gathering for food (oh, the food {:-)). He was such an amazing, outgoing and welcoming friend. My prayers and thoughts to the family and friends left behind.

Rick was a great friend of my parents and our family. He used to tell me that he was going to eat my ears with salt and pepper, which was always a good laugh for us. He was great at making us smile. Our families were close. We will always have great memories of many fun times together. On Easter Sunday, my father John, a close friend of Rick, was actually sharing a great memory of Rick's family Italian Easter bread. It's amazing how quickly a moment in life becomes a memory of best friend. I salute Rick for his great service to our country, his great friendship to our family, and the relationship he created with his sons Rick and Ken, and his entire family.
Thanks for the memories! Cheers to Eternal Life, and Blessings to the Marciano family.
