Richard ""Dick"" Seomin

Seomin, Richard "Dick"
81 of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on August 5, 2017. With a passion for football and love of mentoring children, he helped shape the futures of countless students, many of whom looked to him as a second father. Born in the small town of Sebring, Ohio, he overcame a challenging start as a twice-orphaned child to establish himself as a talented high school athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball. A full football scholarship led him to the University of Cincinnati, where he was named co-captain of the Bearcats his senior year while receiving 1957 All-Missouri Valley honors. After earning his bachelor's degree in physical education and later his master's degree in guidance counseling/academic administration at UC, he began teaching and coaching. His career included serving as head football coach at Cincinnati's Mt. Healthy High School, where he also started the Owls' wrestling program -- quickly leading them to a district title. Upon joining the faculty at Anderson High School, also in Cincinnati, he again coached wrestling before becoming an official. He also served as a guidance counselor and student council adviser at AHS. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Virginia (Weide); daughter, Denise; son, Scott; and his beloved dog, Missy. A memorial service will be held at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church Chapel, 9248 East Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, Arizona, on Wednesday, August 16, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, consideration of a donation to the Arizona Humane Society is requested.
