Richard Splain Obituary

Richard C. Splain

Chandler - Richard C. Splain unexpectedly passed away at the age of 64 on January 21, 2021 after two weeks of hospitalization with the Covid-19 virus. He was born July 19, 1956 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Charles and Gladys Splain. He worked for the Burlington Railroad in Lincoln before moving to Arizona with his parents about forty years ago. In his earlier years he piloted his own aircraft and remained an avid aviation enthusiast throughout his lifetime. He also was a longstanding Ham Radio Operator. In more recent years infirmities required living in an Independent Living facility, most recently North Chandler Place ILF where he enjoyed the care and amenities they provided. He was also able to enjoy fifteen years of companionship with his loving dog QT. He is preceded in death by his parents and because of his longstanding faith in Christ is now able to rejoin them for eternity. He is survived by his sister Sharon Suiter (Ronald) and brother Gary Splain (Cindi), four nephews, a niece and their children. A private family graveside service will be held with arrangements through Messinger Indian School Mortuary.

I met Rich during high school. I would let him ride my Yamaha Enduro bike around high school and he would let my drive his Charger RT around. I helped him build his Corvette motor . One time we had a huge snow fall and I didn't have my snow tires mounted on the rims on my 66 Mustang and I couldn't go any where . I walked to the stations in Bethany and no one would change them and I needed to go to work . I called Rich and he came and took my tires and wheels down to Gates and dismounted the old tire and put on the snow tire. I was able to make it to work! Rich was one of the few guy's I could depend on to help! We did a lot of stuff together. I missed him a lot when he moved to Arizona! He was one of a kind and a great friend!

Richard was a really good friend to me at a time when I truly needed friends! He took time to show me that he actually wanted to be my friend by doing things with me. Things like playing racket all and tennis. We soon found out that we both enjoyed aviation and he took me flying several times. I would buy dinner at Garcia’s Mexican food restaurant and then we would fly somewhere for a little while. We also enjoyed going shooting as well as movies and doing projects at his parents new home on E. Becker ! His dad & mom were really sweet people as well and they also welcomed me into their home like I was their own family! Richards entire family always treated me like I was a part of their family. I had just gone through a divorce which was a challenge for me. But, they just prayed and encouraged me through all of my problems at the time. I always felt welcome in their home! I lost touch with Richard several years ago and I still feel bad about it! I wish I could have seen Richard before he graduated into glory but the other day I was thinking about him and looked him up on the internet when I did I discovered that he had passed away due to Covid 19 & was very depressed as well as heart sick over it! As I said earlier Richard was a good friend to me through the years and time that I was blessed to know him and spend time with him! I will miss Richard for the rest of my days her until I see him again in the next life! I am very happy for him that he is out of pain and enjoying seeing him parents again! I anxiously await my turn to go and see them all! My hearts sincere thoughts go out to the entire Splain family! May The Lord comfort, heal and give you understanding as well as hope of good times ahead when you can be reunited with your loving family in eternity!

I wanted to know a little more about Richard after getting his beautiful SUV! I wish I had known him! I too am an airplane person and will think often about Richard as I take his SUV on adventures. Thank you and my heartfelt condolences.
