Robert Bigler Obituary

Robert Clark Bigler February 7, 1945-July 3, 2005 Bob was born in a little town called Redbud in IL. As an infant his parents Carl and Clarissa moved the whole family to Orange, CA. Bob was the youngest of 4, with 3 older sisters, Esther, Carol and Ruth. He graduated from Orange High and ultimately completed college at ASU with a degree in Architecture. While still in school he was recruited by Architect Bennie Gonzalez and led the life of a jet-setting young turk. Bennie had a great influence on young Bob and some of the key lasting ingredients in Bob's particular style of design were formulated at that time. He struck out on his own in his early thirties and never looked back. Ultimately he also became a General Contractor and both he and his clients enjoyed the additional freedom to make changes in the field without a lot of bureaucratic meetings. He always tried to make his designs fit the client like a glove, and they have rarely sold the houses he designed for them. His clients loved him so well they formed the "Bob Club" that involved parties, dinners, travel, on-going projects and just a deep love and respect for this unique man. Bob was a gentleman with an easy personable manner and had many friends locally and internationally. He would always lend a helping hand, whether to employees or the community or charitable events. Bob and Gillian, an interior designer originally from Scotland, were married just five years ago. In that too short time they enjoyed working together, traveling as much as possible, friends and family their horse and dogs. Bob is also survived by his "Brother" Jeff Mayfield, sisters Carol and Ruth, nieces and nephews Jeanie, Barbara, Rick, Jim, Sandra and Bill. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family, his friends and the community. Services will be held 4:00pm Saturday July 9th at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, AZ. Bob requested no flowers. A gift in his honor may be made to one of his favorite charities. Rescue a Golden of Arizona, P.O. Box 31894, Phoenix, AZ 85046 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Dear Gilly,

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Bob fought such a hard time to beat his illness. I'm sure he's at peace now "running with the herd"

Bob was a great man. He loved his animals. You can't fool children or animals and they loved him.

Remember the good times. Jezebel will be well taken care of.

Bob was the best man at our wedding twenty years ago. We've often thought of him and are sorry to know that he is gone.
