Hello Bob & a happy Memorial Day weekend to you. Thank you for your service!!! Last night I watched a good documentary on Netflix called Thunderbird Elite & it was awesome! I thought of you when you flew jets in the Air Force. I haven´t been following how the Cubbies are doing but my Diamondbacks aren´t doing too well so far this year. The weather hasn´t been too hot yet thankfully. Miss you a lot. Hugs always!!

Hi Bob....
Well your Cubbies are going quite strong this year.... they're now 50 games into the season with a record of 30 - 20, for a .600 average and have been in First Place in their Division almost the entire time, plus truly becoming a run producing giant. Keep your fingers crossed this continues and I'll up-date ya again in a couple of moths.
Miss ya....... always

Dearest Bob, I´m so sorry didn´t get message send off to you the other day. Not only did I miss your birthday on the 5th but your passing date on the 7th! You know what I did on the 8? Went to the Zoo Lights!! That was one thing we did with you & your brother Ron in January 2007. We pushed you around in a wheelchair & drank some hot chocolate! And guess who I got a card from & said to tell you happy birthday?? Irene Ward in Australia!! Ward passed quite some years ago but she always remembers our birthdays! How sweet, huh? It´s winter here now. Down to 31 tonight. Brrrr! Miss you a lot!! Peggy Sue

Good morning dear Bob, I just read Ron´s post about your Cubbies & they didn´t do any better than my Diamondbacks!! Guess we´ll have to wait till next year also! Also somehow I missed the beautiful balloon pic Tracy gave Ron in July. Soooo colorful. Here it is Oct 11th & it´s suppose to be 105 degrees today!! Unbelievable huh? Our weather definitely is changing! I took out my ugly Bermuda grass in the backyard & put in artificial grass & pavers. A lot less work & no watering!!! Yah! Think of you often. Hugs, Peggy Sue

Bob....
Guess we "Wait till Next Year"... the MLB season end this past weekend and our Cubbies were unable to make the cut for even a Wild Card team for the playoffs, so it's "Wait till next Year", again... their final record was/is 83-79 for a .512% rating and tied for 2nd Place in their Central Division. Enough said....

Hi Bob, wow I read Ron´s message & am excited to learn that the Cubbies are doing soooo well & hopefully will continue to do so & go on to the World Series like our Diamond Backs did!! That was so exciting. It´s so darn hot out here & continues right on into September!! Over 100 days of over 100 degrees!! Ouch! Wished I had a pool. I had a good report from the oncologist Thursday. Said I can come back in a year rather than every 6 months. Miss you!

Bob.....
Well your Cubbies have been on a hot streak here of late winning 12 of their
last 15 games and now in 2nd place in their Division with a shot at being in the post season play-off games. Their record a of today is 71W/66L and and average of .518 - 6 games behind their Division lead Milwaukee Brewers - so maybe an exciting finish and possible shot of being in the play-offs. I'll keep ya posted....
Love ya man.... and miss ya every day.

Good am sweet Bob!! It´s hot & hot & hot out here in Phoenix. It´s the 15th of July & our monsoon is very slow in coming!! We finally got some rain (and wind damage) last night. Fortunately I didn´t have any at my house, but I got the umbrellas & canopy down before the winds hit. Each summer seems to be hotter than the next & I don´t handle it very well. I spoke with Ron over the weekend & we had a nice chat. He sounded good. Didn´t know if you knew that Sue´s first husband Bud passed in Feb of cancer. I may go to his celebration of life in Sept up in Colorado Springs. Thinking of you!!

This says it all about the Cubbies, from an article in todays Sports Section of the Chgo. Trib: PHILLIES 6, CUBS 4 LATE TUESDAY
Outlook: Bleak
Cubs lose another series opener, this time to MLB-best Phillies -
And, their record is now 39-47 with a .453 avg., in last place in their Division and 12 games out of 1st place in the Division !!

Bob....
Was sure I had posted this at the same time I posted, with photos, of Tracys Fathers Day gift just a few days ago... not sure what happened caused it's NOT posted. Anyway, here's a repeat....and yes it's about the Cubbies who are now struggling. Off to a good start this year, then like most other years have slide to last place in their Division with a 39 - 46 record (@ .459) and 11 games out of the First place Milwaukee Brewers and look to be going NO WHERE!!! Hang in their - they can only get better, unless of course they don't and instead continue their "slide". Will post about them again near the seasons end!!!!

Tracy did us both Proud - you and your Ballooning exploits inspired her Fathers Day gift to me this year.... she found a "paint by numbers" painting of a ballooning scene that reminded her of you and so she painted it for me for Fathers Day. Couldn't have been more thoughtful of her as she was thinking of the both of us. I'm adding/posting two photos so you can get a look. A great gift and it will always remind me of you and her - Happy to be her Dad and know you'd be Happy as well. Wishing you were still around.......

Hi there Bob!! It´s been a really nice wet winter & spring so far but that´s good because we need it. My sister Jan & Chris were out here this past month &I got to see them quite a bit. Dove to Tucson last Saturday to spend with sister Judy & David also. They´ve now headed back to San Antonio. They sure have a nice motor coach & trailer. I´m doing good & just keep up on all my yearly check ups at the doctors. If you see Sue, Kelly, Lois or Floyd, tell them all hello from me.

Bob....
And the 2024 Season for your Cubbies is underway.... and not a bad start; with just 4 games under their belt, a new manager and lots of new players they've managed a 2 - 2 start including their home opener yesterday with a 5 - 0 win over the Colorado Rockies!! Lets cheer them on and hope good things continue. I'll keep ya posted. Wish you where here and we could get out to one of their home games together - missing you still.

Good am Bob!!! It´s finally cooling off here in the Valley. Has been a loooong hot summer!!! My cardinals are fighting hard but have a 3-1 record so far. Your Cubbies are making the end of their season fun, with a good final push they're in the run for a wild-card play-off spot. Their .531, 9 games over 500 average is really quite a turn-around from the rest of their seasons play..... With less than 20 games left to play we'll see what happens and I'll let ya know when it's over.

I read Ron´s note about your birthday & I didn´t forget your but, I just don´t know how to get into the Legacy site very well! and today is also a very special day that God had also taken you into his home. It's mid-season and the All-Stars games has just concluded - with the American League coming from behind to win. Sure wish the Cubbies could do the same once in awhile. Here's their record: 35 wins vs 57 losses and a .380 average - also 14 & 1/2 games out of first place in their five team division where they remain stuck in 4th place. That's the Not Good mid-season report.

Nearing the end of September and another dismal year for your/our beloved Cubbies.... they traded away three of their core player (Rizzo, Bryant & Baez), with not that many games left in the season they're next to last place in the Division and with a record of 66 - 83 PCT .443 and 25 games out of 1st place.... another year down the tubes, but "wait till next year" !!!!

Brother Bob.... OK, so 50 games into the 2021 season your Cubbies are 28 - 22 (550+) and tied for 1st Place with St. Louis. Not to yet get excited, it's early in the season and they've had a lack-luster and up and down start..... we'll see how things go and I'll get back to you with an up-date. Just recently met a gal, Peggy via e-mails and phone conversations, whose about as "crazy" as you about the Cubbies. Great persona... much like you, laid back, easy going, full of life, etc...... you two would really hit it off in support of the Cubbies. She works for AllState Insurance and has helped me with a claim for a "crash" by your niece/God-Daughter in which the car was totaled!!!!! Need I say more...
Enjoy your day... watch todays Cubbies game and I'll get back to you later in the "season".

Brother Bob... Last year your Cubbies had a terrible end to their season. They start anew this year and as you know because of the pandemic virus we're all suffering through major league baseball shortened the season to just 60 games and they began playing two weeks ago. You won't believe it but with just 12 games under their belt the Cubbies are 10 - 2, posting a 833 average and the tops in their division. Hang on to your old cubbies hat.... THIS MAY BE THEIR YEAR !!! - I don't recall them every having started this good and with only 50 games left to play they they're looking awesome. Brother Bob...
They came close, were in 1st place in their Division for most of the season, were six games ahead of the 2nd place team with just a few weeks to go and ended the regular season tied in their Division. That forced a 2 play-off games to advance into the post-season series.... and they lost both of them which ended last night. They were exciting to watch this year and played plenty of exciting games... but they were just to inconsistent. So "Next Year"

Brother Bob...
Seems I messed up most all of my post on 7/17.... so here it is: We're at the All-Start break and your Cubbies are in 1st Place in the National League Central Division,,, 2 & 1/2 games ahead of the Brewers. With a 55-38 win/loss record @ .591% and highest average in the National League.... but don't let that record fool ya cause they really haven't been doing all that well. To much inconsistency and they're in 1st place with lots of luck behind them... So I keep tabs on them and let ya know how they're doing... take care - miss ya

We're Flying the "L" Flag now. In five games the LA Dodgers did away with our Cubbies. It wasn't even close.... we simply lost to a better team. But it was another good year of baseball.... so we now "wait till Next Year".

Hi my dearest Bob. Well the Cubbies didn't do much better than our Diamondbacks didn't last night as they got swept 3 in a row but I guess they want to keep up with the Cardinals as they aren't very good this year!! Haven't been since Curt Warner left. Just know I think about you daily & cherish the many moments we had together!! Hugs, Peggy Sue

Bob..
OK, so your Cubbies closed out their regular season with a record of 92/70 for an average of .568. Not quite as good as last year but more than enough to take their Division. They begin their first 5 game play-offs against Washington this coming Friday night. I'll let ya know the outcome (win of course) when it's finished and the schedule thereafter. Be sure to " FlyTheW " up their for all to see. Wish you were here to share a beer and watch some of the games @ Goldy's.

I'll keep you posted on their playoff results.

Hi dearest Bob, how do I begin to tell you that I wished you were sitting here having a burger & fries with me?? I'm on my way home from work & decided I was hungry so stopped at a Wendy's since they don't have a Goldie Burger or White Castle! I thought about you A LOT on July 7th as that would've been our 45th anniversary!! Hard to believe that many years have gone by already. Still have our Cardinal's ticket but none of the gang go anymore. Those were fun days huh? Miss ya a lot. Kisses, Peggy Sue

Bob... Yikes, half way through the Cubbies season & I have yet to give you a status report. They got off to a slow and mixed start this year but since the All-star break have really come on. Started today 2 & a half games ahead of Milwaukee and 1st in their division with a .533 average.... and they won this afternoon 5-4 against Toronto. So they're doing well. Wish I were watch the game with ya...

Bob...
So the regular season ended Sunday 10/2, with the Cubs winning their final game. Their season record is/was 103 - 58 for a .640 average, best in all of baseball. The first playoff game starts for them this Friday night, but you know what, they've had such a great season it really doesn't matter.... but of course any play-off wins will be great and icing on the cake. I'll get back to ya after the first series set is done. Go Cubbies....

I still often think of you, wonderful memories of board games and ping-pong in Chicago with my sisters and assorted cousins, outdoor games in Westville, often with all of us - we were quite a crew! Wish I could ever have flown in a hot-air balloon with you, but still treasure the picture of you and Ron next to the Pegasus basket, which pops up occasionally on my screen saver. I hope your spirit is enjoying the Cubs this year!

Bob....

Gotta love this, Cubs manager Joe Maddon has come up with inspirational and motivating T-Shirts that he at first designed for his charity then began passing them out in the clubhouse to the players..... and everyone loves them, as I know you will. So I'm posting a photo of one that was recently in the Chicago Trib with the inscription, "Try Not to Suck" !!! And here's another inscription I know you'll like, "Bunt To Win".... and they have in several games. So I can just see you sitting with me at Goldys watching a game and you wearing your Cubs hat and wearing the "Try Not to Suck" T-shirt..... Great stuff.... great year.

Thinking of ya.... always,

Wanted to let you know that I saw a very good friend of yours, Patrick McClanahan this Sunday and he said to tell you hello. He is still with United and is flying reserve out of LA. His son is a pilot for Southwest. You will always be my love. Peggy Sue
