Robert Harris Obituary

Harris, Robert Joseph
Loving husband, father, grandfather passed away on June 7, 2015. He was born in 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He attended school in Lake Forest, Illinois and high school in Bay Village, Ohio. He obtained a business degree from Arizona State University and an MBA from Harvard College. He served in the U.S. Army (Chaplain's Assistant) for 4 years. He had a wide range of talents and interests and his career involved banking, hotel real estate (development, mergers and acquisitions), college teaching, owning a car dealership and being a probation officer. Bob loved being with family and his grandchildren. Our marriage was defined by I John 4.7-12. To us all, "GPA" was a very special man. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed music, especially at church, and loved playing cards, games and discussing issues. He was a gifted writer and avid reader. He enjoyed looking at real estate from empty lots to homes. He is survived by his wife, Amy, of 50 years; children: Elizabeth Lindh (Robert), Kristin (William) and Joel; grandchildren: Mason, Nicole, Kristin Lindh, Frederick Harris and Liam; and his brother James (Patricia) Harris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Edith Harris; and brothers, Richard and William. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28 at 2:00 at Calvary Church of the Valley, 6107 N. Invergordon Rd., Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Phoenix Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 6708, Phoenix, AZ 85005-6708.

To my dear cousins that I know are family, as the picture of your loved one took my breath away as I felt as though I was looking at my grandfather Joseph Walker Harris, Sr. that passed away in 1963, and my father,J.W.Harris, Jr. that passed in 2008 both from Virginia, and that I miss every day. They are joined together in heaven with our Lord and though we will grieve, they will live in your hearts and minds for as long as we are still here. My deepest heartfelt condolences

Dear Harris Family: Bob was a very special man and a very dear friend of mine. I will always remember his gregarious laugh and sense of humor. Also, he always was willing to provide his insight and listen to others. He will be missed by many. I am praying for your family.
