I had Mr Lax at Mountain View back in the late 70's. I remember his sense of humor and how he made math class fun. Thought you might want to know the impact he made on so many people in the course of his career and life. I remember him well. My sympathies to the Lax family. I enjoyed reading how much he did for Genealogy. He would have loved the Genealogy library here in Salt Lake.

My most favorite vacations as a teenager were spent with Ron and Donna Lax. Vallerie and I are best friends. We would load into their camper on top of Ronald's truck "Dorovasash" and off we would go. One of my favorite memories of Ronald was one night in the woods, after dark, Vallerie and I left the camper to find the campsite outhouse. We were typical teenage girls with alot of unnecessary giggling and squealing. Every bush was a wild animal to us and Vallerie's dad (Ronald) had just finished telling us about the bear sightings at this particular campsite and to be careful.
On our way back, we passed a huge tree on the path and out jumped Ronald nothing but his pajama pants, he was roaring and growling and waving his arms! Vallerie and I started screaming and hugged each other (still screaming) and ran as fast as we could up the path, (still screaming), in the dark, (still screaming), to the camper and through the door (still screaming). Ronald was in the UPPER bunk bed turned away from us and rolled over to ask us in a sleepy voice, "What happened? Now, he was never a small man, but that night he had to have been moving like greased lightening, because Vallerie and I never stopped running all the way back, and we never saw him until he rolled over and faked his concern...best time EVER!! Thanks for the beautiful memories.

We are so sad to hear of Papa Lax's passing. His patience, love and wisdom always shone through his sometimes unbearable teasing. He was always so funny and he always made me "check in" when I would see him. He and Donna raised 4 beautiful daughters with one of them (Sandy) being a long time friend of mine. I wrote this poem for you Sandy but for all to enjoy. Love, Virginia, Rylan & Toby

Don't Cry

Don't cry upon my passing
I've lived a long and satisfying life
I have raised four beautiful daughters
With the most adoring wife

My life was full of memories
I shared with each of you
So do not cry upon my passing
Remembering will keep you from feeling blue

My stories will live on forever
Or as long as you allow them to
So wipe away those weeping tears
And remember I love you

On this day of mourning
Think not of pain and sorrow
For I am watching over you
Today and all tomorrows

This day should be of celebration
Remembering what used to be
For I have always loved you
As much as you have loved me

I will always be there
Nightly when you pray
So don't cry upon my passing
We'll be together again someday

I leave you with a small request
For all who shared my life
Please watch over my dear Donna
My love, my world, my wife

Life is for the living
Memories should never die
Think back on all the times we've shared
And remember, please don't cry

Written for my speical friend Sandy Beals (Lax) June 9, 2009
We will miss you Papa Lax

Ron Lax, my grandpa, was my hero. He was one of those guys that had a huge presence wherever he was. He touched others and had an impact, even in passing moments. People were drawn to him easily. But most important to me, he was always there for me. Whether it was convenient or not. Whether we lived in the same state or not. He made the time and necessary arrangements to always be there at my biggest life moments. I can't think of anything greater a man can give to his daughter or grand-daughter in this life than the reassurance that you are loved and what you do matters.
