Ruben Barcelo Obituary
Ruben Barcelo, 48 of Chandler, AZ, passed away June 5, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends. He was known for his humor, helping others, and his love of sports. Go Cardinals! Generous with his time and talent, Ruben was there whenever you called on him. A strong, loving role model, he was born to be a dad and enjoyed it so much. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sigrid; three children, Brittney Hernandez, Brianna and Colby Barcelo; father, Robert Barcelo, Sr; brother, Robert Barcelo; one granddaughter, Makayla Hernandez; 17 nieces and nephews; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabel Barcelo. Visitation and a memorial celebration will be held 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, June 11, at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. MacDonald St., Mesa, AZ, 85201. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be deposited in Chase Bank account: 2934865326.

Ruben, I wanted to write in this guest book but It is still very hard for me. I want to thank you for 32 years filled with love, laughter, and memories. I really feel lucky that I did find my true love so early. I remember people saying we were too young to marry, but we knew. I knew from the beginning. Thank you for our beautiful children, Brittney, Colby, and Brianna. The pride in your eyes when you were around them or talked about them was heart felt. Although you were embarassed by how sensitive you were, I loved how deep you felt life. I will miss your child like excitement and your joking nature. I would be entertained just by listening and watching you. I will miss you trying to be our children's and my hero. You always put us first and did whatever it took to make us happy. You would always ask, Did I tell you I love you today? If I did not give you a quick enough response you would ask if I love you today. Sometimes I would be serious and say I love you today, but often I would respond with, so far so good, I am not sure yet the day is still early, or what did you do? But I know whatever answer I responded with you knew I loved you today. I would always say that after 32 years I still liked you. Meaning not only did I love you because you were my husband, I always like everything about you. I am so glad we did get a chance to go on our dream vacation to Kauaii. You made me feel so special when you said your favorite thing we did in Kauaii was sitting together on the beach talking and sharing the moment. I will miss our rv camping and road trips. I smile thinking about how you would take the dogs camping in the drive way. I already miss our future together. Ruben, Did I tell you I love you today? I do and I love you for every day of my life. So very sorry to hear the news - I heard at the Reunion this past weekend. I hope you know and take comfort in the fact that many people are praying for you and for your family.
