Russell Wolfe Obituary

Wolfe, Russell Owen
Russell O. Wolfe of Scottsdale Arizona passed away peacefully at home Wednesday evening, May 27th at the age of 50, with friends and family by his side. The son of James and Alicia Wolfe, he was born in Coral Gables, Florida where some of his fondest memories were growing up on the family farm, fishing, and helping his father with his surveying business. Russell was a remarkable man who embraced living. He measured his happiness by all those who had touched his heart and enriched his life, beginning with family and including an ever-widening circle of friends. He believed in us as a spiritual community of connected souls who deserved to be treated with honesty, respect, and above all, kindness. He met the love of his life, Alysoun Tompkins, in Denver, Colorado in 1999. They were married in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2000. By nature an entertainer, Russell charmed everyone he met with a quick wit, big-hearted laugh, and magnetic smile. His enthusiasm was boundless and irresistible. Awed by everything from the majesty of nature to the mundane and everyday, he would often exclaim, "How cool is that?!" Russell's world was a "crazy" and "amazing" place where anything was possible if enough courage, imagination and determination were applied. In 1996 he founded Premier Event Management, destined to provide event management services to an elite international market. Ambitious for more challenge, Russell, in 2005, cofounded Pure Flix Entertainment, a Christian film production company headquartered in Scottsdale. Russell was an actor, a writer and a producer. The recent popularity and critical acclaim for "God's Not Dead", honored at the 23rd Annual Movieguide Awards Gala in Los Angeles, testifies to the hard work, skill and vision of Russell Wolfe. Russell shouldered his illness, ALS, with characteristic bravery and humor. In every arena he fought for life, to experience existence in its full intensity. Russell Wolfe is survived by his loving wife, Alysoun, their children Lauren and Mitchell, mother Alicia, of Scottsdale, two brothers, James of King George, Virginia, and William of Locust Grove, Virginia, and two sisters, Martha Spencer of Simpsonville, South Carolina and Margaret Halabi of Scottsdale, and scores of extended family and friends.

Alysoun, Russell was an amazing man and I recognized that from the moment I met him. This world is a better place because of his existence and how he lived his life. My heart breaks for you and Lauren and Mitchell with his passing. Through this difficult time, please remember he is in a better place and in the loving arms of God. If there is ever anything I can do to help you, anything, you have my number. I will keep you and your family in my prayers that you get through this very sorrowful time and remember all the wonderful and precious moments you shared as a family. Much love.
