Today, January 28, 2005, in your honor and to show you how much you are loved, the students of Wilson School District released 1600 Pink Balloons. We laughed, we cried and we found peace in our hearts. We know you laugh at the site of 1600 Pink Balloons comming straight to heaven for you. We gathered in your name to honor you life and your passions--the students and staff of Wilson, the agencies you worked with, your family and friends and the Susan G Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. We found a little peace in our hearts. Some of us were able to release our sorrow. Most of us rejoyced at knowing you'd enjoy your "party". It was awesome. So were you! We still hear your laughter and see your face, daily , in the children as they still come by to visit you. Sally, during one of our many conversations in your last days, you told me that you wanted to leave a legacy "after you were gone". Sally, you'll NEVER be "gone". Your legacy is you. AMEN!

Sally was one of the first people I knew in the Wilson School District to make me feel welcome. I loved working with her all year round, and miss our times in the teacher's lounge and community center. God grant her the serenity she deserved. All of us who worked in the Wilson community were certainly blessed by Sally and her positivism.

Dear Sally, I was so shocked to hear that you have passed on. I just saw you a couple of weeks ago at your mom's service. It is so hard to believe that this had happened. I have known you almost all my life, since I was 5 or 6 years old. I remember when we first met you on Nancy lane. My brother John I thank for that. He hung around Peter. I became friends with Olivia. I used to spend the night at your house on Southern and 16th street alot. I remember alot of times. As the years went by our family' grew away from each other, BUT we use to always run into each other, especially at the hospital Good Sam when my little nephew Johnny was in there. Sally, I will never forget you. You used to tease my about marrying Henry. You guys always wanted me to marry him, I remember those times. Ha Ha. Well, I guess you can tell my brother John hello for me. He is up there now. well, for now I will close...love you, Charlotte

Her spiked red/orange hair; her loud, beautiful and infectious laugh; her determination; her strong will; her tolerance; her passion for life and work; her devotion; her faith; her love for many; her big and generous heart; her "viejitos"; her "Amens"; her "Hay Villareal!"; Tuesdays Church's fried chicken lunches; her food concoctions; and most of all, her friendship ... these are just a few of the things that will forever keep Sally's memory and spirit in my heart forever.

I am Cosme and Helen Villarreal's 4th daughter. We moved to California in the 60's so I did not know Sally very well but do remember who she was when we would visit our Uncle Pete and Aunt Lily. We were saddened to hear of the death of both Sally and also of our Aunt through an e-mail by our cousin Rudy Gaitan. We offer our sincere regrets to Sally's family and also to the rest of the Pete/Lily Villareal family at this time. We will inform my Dad of the passing away of both family members.
