Scott Simpson Obituary

Simpson, Scott
Aug. 4, 1972-March 29, 2011. Scott was an amazing guy who was always genuine. He had an infectious sense of humor and was always fun to be around. His creativity and talents as a chef were off the charts, yet he was so humble about it. Scott grew up in Scottsdale, AZ, attending Kiva Elementary (Class of 1986), Saguaro High and Coronado High. He later graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. He moved to Seattle to become the chef and owner of three very successful restaurants: Blue Onion Bistro, a comfort food kitchen, Fork, a funky-yet-formal dinner house and Lunchbox Laboratory, a specialty burger place. A tribute to Scott will be held in Scottsdale on Friday, April 15. Email [email protected] for more information. Visit the online guest book at www.obits.azcentral.com.

My Buddy Scott will always be remembered for his truly unique ability to make me laugh under any situation however serious or jovial. He will never be forgotten because, in many ways, his personality has shaped my own!

We had the pleasure of knowing you since you were in grade school. Your wonderful mischievous smile would light up the room you entered. We saw you grow up, laughed at your stories and were so proud of all of your achievements. We will miss you forever.

May you rest in peace,

Our memories of Scott go back many years to when he was one of Jason's young friends. We know the great times and camaraderie they shared greatly shaped the adults they are today. We also know this is something that, especially now, they don't take for granted. Of course, as parents, we were on the "fringe" of it all (a good thing, no doubt) and we couldn't have imagined that we'd be looking back at the short accomplished life of one of the really, really good guys.

Over the past several years, we were lucky enough to see Scott in his element in Seattle. We so thoroughly enjoyed each of his restaurants, starting with the Blue Onion. We had some very special decadent meals there, often on some pretty special occasions, including announcements and celebrations. Each time Scott either came out to our table or invited us back to his kitchen. We were so proud of him. It did our hearts good to see that Seattle, a true "foodie" city, appreciated him as well.

We're very grateful that Allegra became an important part of Scott's life and know that she added so much to these last few years. Seeing them together, both on and off the job, gave us the assurance that he had found something he really deserved.

We'll miss you, Scott, especially when we're in Seattle planning the next good meal. We'll miss the "Hi Mr.Baehr, Mrs. Baehr" that we can still hear. You made quite the lasting impression and will be remembered in the best of ways for a very long time.

Scott's personality and sense of humor were truely unforgetable and heart felt... his laughter and quick wit will always be remembered and live on with his friends...

There is something about childhood friends that stays with you forever. When you see them or hear from them, it’s like no time has passed. It didn’t matter what you did together, hanging out was always fun.

Growing up I lived across from Jason Baehr. His friends became my friends, too. Scott was part of a core group of friends that would regularly hang out together. I think we even rode the bus to and from school together. We saw each other every single day, several times a day. These were lasting friendships that left a positive imprint on my life.

Scott was personable, outgoing, and hilarious. He was so much fun to be around. He truly was a one of a kind guy. We will miss our friend.

Scott’s amazing persona will stay with me forever.
