Mr. Wayne of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on April 28, 2010. He was born in Panama City, FL on February 22, 1969. At a young age, Steve and his family moved to San Bernardino, CA. While in boot camp, he was one of only seven recruits out of a class of 70 to receive a Meritorious Promotion to First Class which he and his family were immensely proud of. After basic training Steve was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Division in 29 Palms, CA where he was trained as a machine gunner. His unit traveled and trained extensively overseas and participated in Operation Desert Shield Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Operation Desert Storm to liberate Kuwait. He is survived by his wife Jill, step-daughter Kiley, mother Joan, sisters Vicki Hamill and Susan Johnson, brother-in-law Grant Hamill, niece Marie Johnson and nephews David, Erik, Alex Hamill. I had the distinct honor to have served with Steve in the Marine Corps. He was such a nice guy with a great sense of humor. I had heard rumors of his passing, but I never looked it up as I was okay with denial however, a friend sent me and others his obituary and the realization that he is no longer with us is heartbreaking.
May Steve rest in eternal peace and my condolences go out to his family and friens.

Steve and I were good friends in the Marine Corps. Shared some great times in Okinawa and the Persian Gulf. I only wish we could have reconnected before his passing. Semper fi devil dog.

Steve was my soul mate and best friend. To our daughter Kiley he was the best step dad showing his love through adventure and kindness. Steve I pray has found the endless ocean he was always searching for.

You endure in my heart. I'll take you where ever I go,
Jill
