Syria Milligan Obituary
Phoenix - Syria Milligan was born on July 23, 1934, in St. Johns, Arizona, where she lived until moving to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1969. She resided in Phoenix until she went to be with Our Lord and Savior on December 28, 2020.
Syria is survived by her husband of 67 years, Grover R. Milligan, Jr.; four siblings: Cesareo Pena, Flagstaff, Arizona; Marian Barreras, St. Johns, Arizona; Thomas "Tom" Pena, Phoenix, Arizona; and Elizabeth Morales, Phoenix, Arizona; and seven children: Ramona Valenzuela, Forest Grove, Oregon; George Milligan, Williams, Arizona; LouAnn Milligan, Phoenix, Arizona; Robert Milligan (Elizabeth), Phoenix, Arizona; Lilly Milligan (Rudy Garza), Phoenix, Arizona; Nancy Milligan, Phoenix, Arizona; and Thelma Franzen (Bridger), Henderson, Nevada. Syria leaves behind a large family legacy including 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed forever in our hearts.
A viewing will be held at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home located at 4800 East Indian School Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85018, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm to include a Rosary Service from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 10:00 am, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Basilica located at 231 North Third Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85004, with Interment to follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery located at 2033 North 48th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 89008. I’m lucky, No,No I’m Blessed to have had such a strong , beautiful and loving Nana as her. Words can not explain how much she will be missed . I Thank her for her help in molding me to the person i am today, I will forever be grateful and i will always keep her in my heart. I LOVE YOU NANA!

My condolences to the entire family. My heart breaks for all of you as this was so unexpected. I pray your hearts heal with time. Every time I think of Syria I smile because she was feisty and brutally honest and she always made my laugh. God called home a very special lady. Syria you will be so very missed, until we meet again Rest In Peace.
