Thomas Davis Obituary

Davis, Dr. Thomas "Tom" Cassedy
81, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on June 23, 2016. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Dr. Thomas "Tom" Davis went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2016. A native, "Michigander", Tom was born in Detroit and attended University of Michigan and graduated from Wayne State Medical School. After marrying his wife, Pat, a nurse, in 1959, Tom joined the U. S. Public Health Service. Through it he served on a Coast Guard weather ship, was the physician for Peace Corps volunteers in Malawi (Africa) and was Chief of Pediatrics for government hospitals in New Orleans and Phoenix. Tom later combined his love of medicine with his gifted leadership skill in the role of Medical Administrator for various Health Plan companies in Arizona and California. Tom's involvement in the church and through other organizations, such as Harvest Foundation and Scottsdale Bible Church's Tanzania Project, meant a great deal to him, as he had a heart for meeting the spiritual and physical needs of the poor, particularly in Africa. Through leading home bible studies, mission trips, and prayer, Tom invested himself in the lives of others, becoming for many, a mentor in leading a life according to the gospel. Surviving are his loving wife and best friend, Pat, his sons Steve (Leta) and Scott (Wendy), and daughters Sheryl Davis and Sue (Frank) Koehler, as well as twelve treasured grandchildren. James and Ayen Jokdit, of Sudan, and their daughter, Aku, also regarded Tom as a father and Papa in their lives and he loved them as such. A memorial service will be held at Scottsdale Bible Church's Grace Chapel, 7601 East Shea Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 at 2pm, Monday July 25, followed by a reception in the High School building. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scottsdale Bible - Tanzania Project http://scottsdalebible.com/serve-the-world/africa-project/ or Harvest Foundation http://www.harvestfoundation.org/ .

Oh Pat it is so strange how you and Tom have been so on my heart just today and I decided to just do an internet search and then found that he had gone home to Jesus. We pray for your strength and Gods lifting and holding you during this time. You have both been such a powerful example of Christs love and mentors to us in what marriage looks like. We love you and will look forward to seeing you again either here or in paradise. David and Gia Lonergan.
