Thomas Erautt Obituary

Erautt, Thomas W.
Tom Erautt (Tommy, Tommer, T-Wall) was born in San Diego, CA on October 10, 1954 and passed away on March 13, 2009 at his home in Mesa. He grew up in the San Diego area where he started playing baseball at an early age. He also loved hanging out at the beach with his buddies. Tom loved all sports but had a special passion for anything related to baseball. He loved any type of competition and enjoyed shooting darts, playing golf, and bowling. He participated in many 10K runs and also completed a half marathon. Tom worked for Boeing on the Apache Helicopter Program for 27 years. He was proud to be affiliated with such a remarkable aircraft. Tom was quiet in nature but when he had something to say it was worth listening to. He had a delightful sense of humor often putting his own unique spin on things. Survivors include his wife and soul mate Wendy, his father Ed Erautt, brother Ed (Mickey) and sister Shelley Ivie (Mike) and numerous nieces and nephews on the Erautt side. He is also survived by Wendy's parents, Ann and Howard Fegan, and Jack and Betty Malpas as well as her sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Paul Wimsatt, all of which he loved as his own. His nephew and niece, Justin and Jeni, were Tom's pride and joy. When Jeni and her husband, Chris, recently had their first child, Ethan, Tom was overjoyed and delighted. In addition, he is already missed by his beloved chocolate Lab, Bailey. Tom was so happy to be able to come home for the last two weeks thanks to Hospice of the Valley. Please consider a donation to their wonderful organization in lieu of flowers. Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at 11am outdoors at Falcon Field Park. Dress is casual - Tom hated those occasions when he had to wear a tie! Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on as well as your favorite Tom story to share.

I met Tom about 3 years ago when I moved back to Mesa, however, I felt as if I knew him forever because we got along so well from day one. Wendy, You were the light of his life and everytime he talked about you he had a big smile on his face :) He was a wonderful person, great co-worker, and most importantly an outstanding FRIEND. I feel privileged to have been able to meet and become Tommy's friend. He will definitely be missed by all, but his memory will live in the minds and hearts of all those he touched throughout his lifetime.

Wendy Sue,

Wow. I was so taken back to hear that Tom had passed. Life is so precious. I hear how everyone is doing through the grape vine and I know Connie has kept in contact with you through the years. She said Tom loved living there.

I will give Karen the news.

We, in San Diego, are all in shock.

We all have so many wonderful Tommy memories. He will always be in our hearts. What a kind, caring man.

The best to you at this time and may the Lord bless you and keep you safe.

I just learned of Toms passing. I had not seen Tom since we played baseball together at Grossmont College. In reading what so many other have written it's clear the good nature and character, that he exhibited back then, remained intact all these years. He leaves a fine legacy that we all can learn from. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

anything, please do not hesitate to call.

Wendy - I can't express in words what Tom brought to those that worked with him (and I am sure those he played with too) but I know he somehow enriched or touched our lives. He will live on in all of for many years to come. Someone once said that a friend comes into your life for one of three purposes - 1) a reason, something you need; 2) a season - a special time in ones life; 3) a life-time. I truly believe Tom came into everyone's he touched for a reason but spent a life time there... I know he will be in my heart where his spirit will live on for a life-time.

You were one special lady to him - you could see it in his eyes every time he said your name. You are a special friend to us as well and we are here for you how ever you may need us.

God bless you and your family. God Bless Tom and his precious soul.

I met Tom April 15, 1985, my first day on the job. We didn't have enough phone's, we share one with GFE. For the first week, I thought Toms's name was "Tom Phone". Yes, we yell out for Tom. He will be missed for his humor and smile. God bless.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. May the love of family and friends sustain you at this most difficult time. Tom and Wendy - not only great neighbors but I enjoyed working many property issues with Tom from Hughes HH; McDonnell Douglas and Boeing GFE. I worked for the Army and later DCMA and Tom was always one of the real "PROs" in the organization to go to.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Tom while I worked in Property with him. He was an exceptional friend who was “an open book” and was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge. Tom thanks for the numerous ASU and D-Backs games you made possible for me and my family. Will miss your genuine friendship and chatting with you about the local sports scene, but will always remember you for your kindness, down-to-earth personality and the true love for others that you demonstrated on a daily basis. Thanks for having been such a great example to all of us around you.

Wendy,
George and I feel as if we have known Tom forever. We feel honored and privileged to consider him, and you, part of our extended family through your sister who became our daughter-in-law. With you and Tom, we share a love for many of the same people and have shared many special occasions with them. Tom possessed many of the attributes of a great man; integrity, great work ethics, loyalty, love, compassion, a quick wit and unique sense of humor with the ability to laugh with people and at himself. Tom, we will miss you but know we will see you again. Wendy, we will always be available to you and Bailey in anyway you may need us.

Tom was my son-in law, but he was like my own son...When I would visit, he and I would sit up late and drink brandy and talk about everything...We were such good buddies...We ran 10k races together and he insisted that we wait afterward so I could pick up my trophy for my age group...We went to a lot of baseball games together, and that was always a plus...He was the greatest husband for my daughter, and I can't imagine her with anyone else...He used to sit back and look slightly amused by her so much...I truly loved Tom...and will always be grateful for having him in our lives...

It is with GREAT PRIDE TO SAY - I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE KNOWN "TOM ERAUTT", I met
Tom through an introduction by our mutual friend Al Todoroff Sr. at Hughes Helicopter/McDonnell Douglas Helicopter here in Mesa, AZ. Al, always spoke very highly of Tom and his spirit of excellence regarding his attitude, great work habits and desire to "do it right the first time". I am saddened by TOM'S passing but I know he is with his pal and mine AL TODOROFF - another GREAT MAN!
My wife, Nancy and I, send our HEART FELT SYMPATHIES to his wife - Wendy and his loving relations! We will miss you Tom but you will always be in our HEARTS!
GOD BLESS!

Tom will always have a special place in my heart. Not only was he a great uncle, he was a best friend, father-figure and mentor. His sense of humor, patience and care for others will always be remembered. Our late night conversations, flag raising ceremonies and numerous summer days spent outside in the Arizona heat will never be forgotten. He was definitely one of a kind. I’m so thankful for the time I had with him. I will always love my uncle “Thomas Wally” and I can’t wait to be with him again.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom for the last 12 years. In my GFE days Tommy Erautt had the knowledge he was the resident expert on property. Between John Deyle and Tom they had stories about everyday life that kept you laughing. It was a pleasure to work with him and he will be greatly missed on the receiving dock.

Wendy, I knew Tommy well before moving to Gov. Prop., he was once a customer of mine when I worked in the warehouse. Tommy always treated me and my position with great respect and it was always very easy to help him with whatever he needed. In fact, I would often put the work I was doing "on hold" until he was taken care of. Since moving on to Gov. Prop., the knowledge that he has given me is indescribable. I will forever be indebted to Tommy because I believe that he was instrumental in the progression of my career. I will miss Tommy very much.

Tom is the reason I work at Boeing today. I met Tom when he came to Teledyne Ryan to do an Apache Government Property audit on me. Tommy was a great co-worker and awesome friend. I enjoyed our nemerous talks together. We used to walk out to our cars everyday, when we were on the same schedule. I would stay late somedays to wait for him, just so we could walk out together. Everytime the guys made plans to go to a game, I would ask Tommy and he went; everytime. I miss him and I'm sorry for your loss Wendy. Tommy was one of a kind.

Hey Tommy, I miss you very much! I have so many great memories, One of my best is getting you a Chargers hat for a secret santa, years ago. I loved going to the NPMA meetings at Anzio's with you and Floyd, you always cracked me up! You taught me so much about my job! Anytime I have a question about Assets or Property, "I'll just say to myself, What would Tommy do!" I'm sure I will see you again someday, your friend Michelle

Dear Wendy and Bailey (and Tom’s entire family and “inner circle”): How can I presume to tell you what you already know (and far better than I)? That Tom was soft-spoken, kind-hearted, one of the “good guys”, one-in-a-million? In our 27+ years on the same "campus", I can certainly tell you that Tom ALWAYS had a smile and a hello for me… and for everyone he passed in the course of a given day. It is my loss not to have worked directly with Tom, but he will always be one of my most treasured teammates.

March 25, 2009

I had the pleasure of knowing Tom for the last 25 years here at Boeing. Tom was always helpful and always made sure his customers and fellow employees were satisfied by his outstanding level of service.
He was never too busy to help anyone, no matter what the issue. If he did not know the answer, he would find someone who did. A quality that is rare and hard to find these days.
He could converse on just about every topic and always talked with you and not at you.
Words cannot express how much he will be missed but I am proud to say I have many memories of Tom and also proud to have been able to share time together.
Rest in peace my friend and watch over us all.
Thank you
