Thomas McNutt Obituary

McNutt, Thomas R.
September 12, 1941 - August 8, 2014. A loving man with a strong passion for the labor movement, Tom spent his career as a labor leader and was raised up by lifting others. Tom was always kind and reached out to all in a helpful way. He was a lifelong member and President of UFCW Local 400, and more recently AFTRA. Tom was an eloquent speaker and even a better listener with an illuminating inner light. Tom is survived by his wife, Ann, of 33 years with whom he graciously shared his 5 children, 7 grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting the birth of his 8th and 9th great grandchildren, both due in September. He is also survived by a younger brother and sister and many nieces and nephews. Born in Detroit Michigan, his career ended in Washington, D.C. He retired in Naples, Florida and lastly to Arizona leaving a wake of friends during his journey. His final thoughts might have been to take "Valley Fever" very seriously and when life gives you a new direction, take it. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be designated to Infectious Diseases/Valley Fever at Mayo Clinic. Gifts can be mailed directly to Mayo Clinic, Department of Development, 13400 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, Arizona 85259.

I just heard about this recently and wanted to come by and say how sorry I am to hear this sad news. I am so sorry for Anne's loss. Tom was a very good man who I had much respect for. Everybody should be able to find a true soul mate as Tom and Anne found in each other. He will be missed by many.
