Tommy Lockridge Obituary

Lockridge, Tommy E.
Tommy Lockridge aka Tom, passed peacefully, loved and fulfilled at the age of 62 on Monday, January 2, 2017. Tom was born in Amarillo, Texas, grew up hating winters and snow in Kansas and got way too many tickets in high school in Scottsdale, AZ. Tom would always grin and say, "I was asked by school administrators not to attend my high school graduation" and that his mom would make coffee for the police officers who followed him home to ticket him for speeding in his muscle car. His youthful shenanigans were tolerated by his loving and ever patient parents Ethel (who preceded Tommy in passing) and Gayland Lockridge, two people who couldn't have loved him more and his adoring little sister whom Tommy had the honor of naming Marilyn after Marilyn Monroe (mind you, he was 7 at the time, the rascal). With adulthood came his time in the U.S. Army 1974-1978 where he served in the Berlin Brigade as guard over Nazi war criminal Rudolf Hess, something Tommy never bragged about as he felt he was doing his duty to his country and humanity. Instead he left the gushing for his wife Marie Elaine Price-Lockridge to do which she did, still does and always will. Married for 18 years, together for 19 but in each other's lives for 22 their endless love story began when he interviewed her for a job, hired her, and then changed her flat tire all on the same day. Two and half years later he promoted her from star employee to his soulmate and they were married the year after that. Over the years they lived, laughed, loved and had countless adventures traveling to hole in the wall towns, attended ridiculous musical versions of "Debbie Does Dallas," "Reefer Madness" and "Evil Dead" toasted each other at numerous happy hours, art house shows and concerts. Though they never had children, they always had children in their lives. Tommy is survived by two amazing nephews Thomas and Matthew Millette and three nieces who loved him as a dad, Noelle, Catherine and Gina Andrade and a beloved great-nephew Atticus Sena who Tom played chess, connect four and water wars with super soakers in the backyard pool. Tom had many, many friends over his lifetime and they also share in the grief of his passing. Tommy Lockridge the most amazing man in the world rests in peace knowing he was loved and cared about. Memorial services will be at 5:00pm Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N 7th St, Phoenix 85020. Friends, family and well liked coworkers are encouraged to attend both the memorial and the celebration of Tom's life and love of beer immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers Tom asked that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley's Ryan House at hov.org, The American Cancer Society at cancer.org, or used to throw a hell of a happy hour. Tommy Lockridge was one of the most kind, loving and generous people I have ever met. No one was a better friend or better person than Tom. He inspired others to be better. Tom left the world a better place than he found it. His friends still miss him and always will.

The hardest part of your life's journey is having to say goodbye to those you meet along the way. He was a proud veteran, a loving husband, and cherished member of our family. He was not just my brother inlaw, He is my brother from another Mother. Love and peace from the Price side of the family.

So sorry to hear of Tom's death. We remember Tom as a friendly, happy guy. Tom and Marie loved to make Halloween a very special time in our neighborhood when they lived here.

May God hold him in the palm of His hands. Rest in Peace Tom.

Tom Lockridge was one of the finest people I ever met. I never had a conversation with Tom that did not leave me laughing and feeling better about the world. Tom left the world a better place Very few people are as genuinely kind hearted and decent as Tom. He will be truly missed.
