Graceful, full of Mercy and Humility. Those are the words I think of to describe Valerie. To be truly merciful is to forgive even when someone doesn't deserve forgiveness that was Valerie. To be humble to recognize your own worth in relationship to others and to God, and never perform an act of kindness or service in order to achieve personal greatness. that was Valerie.
In her final days, her gracefulness was beyond anything I've ever experienced. That's not to say she wasn't ever anxious, or even crabby pain does that. But there was a grace about her that gave me an example by which to live. Her eyes were bright and her beauty was breathtaking even in her final days, she welcomed us to take photos, give and take hugs, and she always let me hold her hand. Half the time I thought I was doing this to comfort her, but really, she was comforting me.
There wasn't much that Valerie wouldn't do for others. She taught me a lot about love without conditions. Humble acceptance of her sickness. And at the end, she taught me about trust. Valiant trust. There's a saying. Let go, and let God. She did just that. I will miss you, Valerie. I know you are smiling now. Please don't forget to pray for all of us.

My whole family is going to miss Val. She and Larry coming by to visit my Mom and our family was a real blessing. She was such a cheerful, joyful and uplifting person, and her and Larry's visits were such a blessing. We all loved and respected her very much, and she will be greatly missed. From Mom (who's passed over), Barbe, Erica, and Rick Peninger.
