Wendy Louise Stryke Boorn

Wendy Louise Stryke Boorn, 76, passed on May 18th, 2021 at the Hospice of the Valley Eckstein Center after a brief and unexpected illness. She was born on March 9th, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Frank and Margaret Stryke, who are predeceased, as is her beloved Great Dane, Sweetie. She is survived by her dearly loved family that includes her sister, Judy Mieger (Chuck Rinehart), daughter, Kim (Ray) Powell, and son, Doug Boorn (Tammie Holt), and her three grandchildren, Kevin (Jessie) Powell, Tyler Boorn, and Sheryl Powell. Wendy attended Bucknell University (B.A. English) and ASU (Master's in Counseling). Wendy's mission in life was to make a difference in this world. She had hundreds of clients who could speak of the profound difference she had made in their lives with her wise counsel. Her family and friends could tell innumerable stories about how she made a difference in their lives by her deep caring, by sharing her many passions in life, and by her loving cards and letters. Wendy was passionate about her grandchildren, expressing gratitude, sharing good food, beautiful trees, longtime friendships, music, art, and spirituality. For those who would like to donate money to one of the causes that she loved, please do so in her memory to the Desert Botanical Gardens and/or the Phoenix Chorale.

Very saddened to hear of Wendy´s passing. She helped me on many occasions, a wonderful counselor. My condolences to family and friends. I count myself blessed, very lucky to have crossed paths. I also enjoyed her Thanksgiving newsletters, a woman who was dedicated, smart, compassionate and cleaver. RIP dear Wendy

Dear Wendy´s family, I´m so sorry for your loss. She is the best! When I´m in need of wise Counsel, Wendy is my go-to person. I first met her in 1989, in essence she helped me grow up, gently guiding me. She journeyed with since then through the valleys and the mountaintops of my life. She cheers me on, wipes my tears, celebrates my new found awarenesses and accomplishments. I reached out to her last year when I found out I was ill, and she was there for me like always, encouraging me, offering her wisdom, and most of all her love. I hadn´t heard from her in a long while, she´d always respond to my health updates, but I figured she was doing life. I reached out today because I wanted her words to cover me like a warm blanket and learned this devastating news. Yet, Dear Wendy taught me to view all of life´s events from many different angles so as I weep for her, I also dance in joy because I know she´s dancing with the angels and anyone else she can get moving in heaven. Peace my precious friend, your smile, warm embrace, wise words still fill my senses and live on in all of us who know you. I love you Wendy, my spiritual mama Mary Dolores
