Brian Young Obituary
Brian Young left us unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday, September 6, 2025 as he was walking home to his summer cabin, Outlaw. We'd had a wonderful dinner together with a small group of us, laughed a lot and, afterwards, he headed for home. En route, he collapsed from a major cardiac event. Brian was a part of this HF Bar Ranch family for nearly 70 years. Born September 28, 1953, his family first came as guests when Brian was two. He worked at the Ranch as a teen, and throughout many other years. Lately, he was a member of the Ranch Management Team for these past five years.
Brian lived in many other places, most recently, in Flagstaff, Arizona and Big Horn, Wyoming.
A Bachelor of Science graduate from the University of California at Santa Cruz, with a Masters degree from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, California, Brian was a marriage and family therapist licensed in Arizona, California, and Wyoming.
Brian was an accomplished tennis player and taught the sport in Mexico, Arizona and Wyoming. He was a passionate friend of Bill W. for over 50 years. Brian loved his gardening and he had several at the HF Bar Ranch and at his other homes over the years.
So many of our Ranch family knew and loved Brian. He was a happy, deeply thoughtful, giving human being. He set and knew his boundaries. It seemed he was everyone's friend. He exuded warmth, welcoming, and deep sincerity to everyone with whom he crossed paths. He was loved.
His beautiful Bassett Hound, Lola, who came to him in the past years, was his dearest companion. She brought him so much joy.
Brian leaves wife, Judy King, their daughter, Haley and husband, Gabriel Lopez; brother Gary Young and wife, Peggy, nephews Jake and Cooper; sister, Cathy Young Peters, husband, Brett, along with their children: Nicholas Shriner, Natalie Tavasolian, Roy and Cole Peters. He, also, leaves behind half-brother Kenneth Young, his wife, Jessica Drake, & their daughter, Melina Young.
A celebration of Brian is being planned, with his family, in the late Spring of 2026 at the HF Bar Ranch. Cremation has taken place. Condolences may be sent to the HF Bar Ranch, 1301 Rock Creek Road, Saddlestring, WY. 82840 and will be forwarded to his family.
