Jeffrey A Duerr, 46, died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 05, 2008, at his home in Flagstaff, after struggling for a year with esophageal cancer.
Mr. Duerr was born June 4, 1961, to Richard and Kay (Moldenhauer) Duerr in Berlin, Wis. He graduated from Berlin High School with the class of 1979. He married Caroline Duerr on Aug. 1, 1981, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Berlin. They were blessed with a baby daughter on Oct. 19, 1984.
Mr. Duerr worked for 20 years at Square D Company in Oshkosh. He took advantage of the prospect to further his education when Square D moved out of Oshkosh and he earned an associate degree in landscape horticulture from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. He graduated at the top of his class at NWTC. This gave him the chance to work at the beautiful West of the Lake Gardens in Manitowoc, Wis. for several years. Then he and his wife moved to Flagstaff when he was offered an opportunity to progress into the golf course industry. He was employed at Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club from the fall of 2006 until recently when his failing health made it impossible to continue. We are so proud of him for following his dream and for fighting so hard to continue to do his best for as long as he could. He took great pride in his coaching and mentoring of students at Berlin Catholic School for several years. He loved fishing, duck hunting and deer hunting.
We would like to thank Dr. Cooley and Dr. Kuefler and the team at the Northern Arizona Cancer Center, and also the kind staff at Northland Hospice. We appreciate your compassion and the care you gave to Jeff. May God bless you all.
Jeff, we miss you and will always love you - Carrie and Erika.
Mr. Duerr is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Carrie, of Flagstaff; his cherished daughter Erika, of Avondale; his dear mother Kay Duerr, of Berlin; brother Loren Duerr, of Athelstane, Wis.; sister and brother-in-law Lynn & Ray Hahn of Waupaca, Wis; and an extensive extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard Duerr; his grandparents; and sister-in-law Susan Duerr.
