Sally Veazey Obituary

Sally Veazey
August 27, 1939 - September 5, 2025
Sally Christine (O'Connell) Veazey
Flagstaff lost a good one on September 5, 2025. Sally grew up in Flagstaff, graduated from Flagstaff High School, and lived in Scottsdale before returning to Flagstaff in the mid-1990s. Married to Robert "Wheezer" Veazey in 1971 until his passing in 2006, she is survived by their daughter, (Amanda) Christine Veazey, stepchildren, Matthew Fielding Veazey and Liesl Bogar and their children. As well as the numerous other "kids" she had collected over the years. Sally's heart touched everyone, serving as a mother, aunt or nana to those in need. She loved them all and at the end made Christine promise to take care of them too.
Sally enjoyed a distinguished career at Mountain Bell early in her life and JC Penney in Flagstaff, but her true legacy was her boundless volunteerism. A dedicated member of the Scottsdale Boys and Girls Club, Arizona Historical Society and the Assistance League of Flagstaff. Rummage was her passion. For nearly 40 years, she ran the Will Call at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. She was a vital presence as an Elk Lady and later the club secretary. Known for sharing homemade breads with everyone in town, Sally earned the nickname "Aunt Sally". In 2015 she was honored as the Arizona Daily Sun's Female Citizen of the Year.
A breast cancer survivor for over 43 years, Sally's vibrant energy defined her "go-getter" spirit.
Sally's impact endures, inspiring us to carry forward even a fraction of her generosity.
When you donate your time, money or things please remember Sally's contribution. She asked us to keep helping those who needed it and to share a little of her spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to Cedar Closet of Flagstaff or Elks Lodge #499 in Sally's honor. Funeral services will be held October 23, 2025, at San Francisco de Asis 10 a.m. Rosary, 10:30 a.m. Mass. Reception immediately following at the Flagstaff Elks Lodge #499.
Condolences may be shared with the family at norvelowensmortuary.com.
