Tina Winscott Obituary

Tina Winscott
January 15, 1956 - October 29, 2024
Tina Winscott, a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend, died on October 29, at her home in Flagstaff, Arizona, after an extended illness. She was 68.
The cause was vascular disease, her daughter Tanya Winscott said.
Tina was known for her kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her love for animals led to a career as a veterinary technician at W.L. Gore & Associates, in Flagstaff, where she worked for more than a decade. In her personal life, Tina was especially fond of dogs. She pampered her beloved Samoyeds and in recent years doted over a snippy Chihuahua named Sport.
Tina also loved people. In the 1990s, she embarked on a second career as a caregiver, providing companionship, comfort, and medical care to seniors and the seriously ill. She had a gift for helping others at the end of their lives, and many of the people with whom she worked came to regard her as family.
Tina was born on January 15, 1956, at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California, to Betty Jean and William Paul Frederick, and raised in Riverside. She attended Ramona High School, in Riverside, and moved to Flagstaff in 1980. Tina was preceded in death by her sister Maria Frederick. She is survived by her daughter Tanya, of La Mesa, California, whom she adored; her sister Robbin Staley Banks, of Riverside; and more nieces, nephews, and loyal friends than many of us are lucky enough to count.
A nature lover, Tina enjoyed hiking and camping with friends and family near Dry Beaver Creek and Hart Prairie Preserve at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, where she could spend hours watching birds and other animals and appreciating the fresh air and autumn leaves. Her favorite color was sky-blue pink, the color of sunsets.
To her friends and family, Tina will always be remembered for her joyful energy and open heart. She was a good listener, gave great advice, and cheered on her loved ones, lifting them up through good times and bad. Tina's love knew no bounds, and she was deeply loved in return. A celebration of her life will be held in Flagstaff at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to High Country Humane animal shelter, in Flagstaff, in memory of Tina Winscott.

Tanya, your mother was one of the kindest and most giving people I've met in my long time in Flagstaff. We met at Gore and our paths continued to cross in the years following. She was a good woman. You were her everything!

I remember meeting Tina when I attended grade school with Tanya in the 1980´s. Tanya´s mom Tina was the kindest, nicest person. I enjoyed many laughs and great times with Tanya and Tina. Our favorite snacks were chocolate Hostess cupcakes and Hawaiian punch. My family and I moved from Flagstaff when I was in sixth grade, but I will always cherish the time I was so fortunate to have with Tanya and Tina.
Tina, Tanya and family are in my prayers.
