Alene Jensen Parsons
1926 - 2018
Alene Jensen Parsons was born in Clovis, California in 1926 and died in Buttonwillow on March 27. She has a twin sister, Lorene who lives in Carmel. Her older brother, Julien died some years ago.
She grew up in Bakersfield and attended KCUHS, BC and Mills College (full academic scholarship). After a brief teaching career (kindergarten) she married the love of her life, John Parsons and moved to Buttonwillow to be a farmer's wife. She devoted her life to raising her six children, Walter, Rebecca, Nancy, Jane, John and Julien.
Education and programs for youth were her passion and she was instrumental in many community improvement projects. She served on the Buttonwillow School Board for many years, helped to start the Buttonwillow Recreation and Park District, started the Small World Preschool, brought Camp Fire Girls to Buttonwillow, and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was devoted to New Life Fellowship and played the piano every Sunday for longer than we can remember.
She delighted in her twelve grandchildren and played an influential role in all of their lives. Her most recent joy came from her six great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
Please consider a memorial contribution in her name to Mills College or the New Life Fellowship of Buttonwillow.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 4th at 11am at New Life Fellowship in Buttonwillow. For condolences, please visit: www.greenlawnM-C.com Greenlawn Funeral Home Northeast

When you are ten years old you cant understand the influence that living in community with people like Alene, and the whole Parsons family, would have on your life. At least not as much as I do at this moment. Beautiful people do beautiful things.
You are all loved
Sorry for your loss.

My prayers and condolences to Mrs Parson's family, especially to Nancy. Mrs person introduced me to Campfire Girls. I remember a night with the group camping out at her family's ranch. Thus, began my love of camping. A special angel has gotten her wings.
